The eras of Golden Child
We are lucky enough to be living in a world wherein there is endless music. Every day, we get new music from amazing artists.
I’ve been loving music for as long as I can remember. I loved a lot of artists from around the world and I liked different genres as well. I’ve been a K-pop fan for more than half of my life already and one of the K-pop groups that captured my heart through their music is Golden Child.
As Golden Child celebrates 7 years of wonderful music, let’s take a look at each of their albums and music that defined their career in the industry.
DamDaDi (from Gol-Cha!, 2017)
Released on August 28, 2017, Golden Child debuted with the song DamDaDi.
A refreshing sound that became the summer anthem of most people. It’s such a lively track that makes you want to dance! This song also made Golden Child popular for their bright concepts. There’s really so much youth and innocence in this debut release!
Despite being released during their debut days, Golden Child still loves to perform this song for the audience! It’s truly a DamDaDi supremacy!
It’s U (from Miracle, 2018)
With the success of their debut song, Golden Child came back with yet again another bright song that makes you want to dance!
It’s U has a very refreshing and youthful concept and you see Golden Child wearing school uniforms in this music video! Can you imagine handsome boys confessing their love for you this way?
Along with the release of this album, their promotions were over the top! They even released a short film titled “Golden Movie” for this album. Golden Child actors are here!
Let Me (from Goldenness, 2018)
Golden Child continued their saga of bright and youthful concepts with the title track Let Me.
I loved the beat of this song and the music video had all the members smiling and having fun! Everything about this song is just so fun and lively!
Genie (from Wish, 2018)
2018 was definitely a success for the rookie group Golden Child as they released their 3rd album that year!
Genie is one of my favorite Golden Child bright songs and everything about it is just so good!
Genie is really that song that will make you wanna sing and dance! The overall concept was good and who won’t fall in love with these cute and handsome boys?
Wannabe (from Re-boot, 2019)
After the release of Genie, Golden Child went on hiatus for a year. Goldenness misses them, but Golden Child prepared for an amazing comeback in 2019!
Their album Re-boot marks the start of their “Finding Oneself” trilogy. This new era also started Golden Child’s entry into dark concepts, which was something new as their recent releases were bright and happy concepts.
Their song Wannabe gave them their first-ever music show win, which is why this era has been a memorable one for both Golden Child and Goldenness.
After doing bright concepts in their previous albums, Golden Child showed that they have matured and grown up and are now ready to take on new challenges through their music. Golden Child proved that they will come back stronger than ever!
Without You (from Without You, 2020)
Golden Child continued their “Finding Oneself” trilogy in 2020 with the release of their repackaged album.
Without You has this amazing beat that highlights the members’ voices. In this song, I can say that their voices matured and they sound amazing.
Another hit song from Golden Child started 2020 right!
One (Lucid Dream) (from Take A Leap, 2020)
One (Lucid Dream) is the third and final part of their “Finding Oneself” trilogy.
This song is so powerful and showed Golden Child’s charismatic side.
Despite being released during the height of the pandemic, Golden Child successfully came back for their fans with this song.
Since it was during the pandemic, all promotions were done online but Golden Child still made this comeback memorable for everyone.
Pump It Up (from Pump It Up, 2020)
After three years of dark and mature concepts, the bright kings are back!
Pump It Up has been a fun and lively release because after 3 albums of dark concepts, the “bright child” is back on their base!
It is a fun song indeed and if you’ve watched their music show stages, you’ll just see a bunch of boys having fun dancing and singing.
Pump It Up is also a memorable one as this song gave Golden Child their second music show win!
Burn It (from Yes., 2021)
I think most Goldenness will agree if I say the Burn It era is a memorable one!
The announcement of this comeback was a surprise for most Goldenness so it made everyone excited!
There were a lot of memorable moments and achievements during Burn It. With the help of Goldenness, Burn It topped number 1 on Genie multiple times since it was released. They also won 2 music show awards for this song. With 2 wins for this comeback, Golden Child now has 4 music show wins. This might not be a lot for others, but these 4 wins were teamwork for both Golden Child and their fans. This might not be that much but the memories and everything that happened before achieving these is what is important.
Added to this achievement is a record of 100k album sales for this album, which marks their highest sales record since debut.
I can still remember how everyone was happy during this era. You really just had to be there! Queen Burn It, you will always be famous!
Along with the release of this album, Golden Child also released a drama version of their song.
Ra Pam Pam (from Game Changer, 2021)
Golden Child continued with more releases for 2021 as they came back with their 2nd full album Game Changer!
Similar to their Burn It music video, Ra Pam Pam tells you a story, and this time, it tackles global warming.
Ra Pam Pam is a sexy and bop song with a touch of Latin sound. The song delivers the message of hope despite the chaotic world around us.
Ra Pam Pam also ranked second on Billboard’s World Digital Sales Song Chart!
For the promotion of their 2nd full album, Golden Child participated in making their own music videos. You can watch their self-made music videos here.
Ddara (from Ddara, 2021)
Golden Child’s 3rd release for 2021 is a repackaged version of their 2nd full album.
Ddara is a new jack swing style with a rhythmic beat. It delivers a message of not caring about what other people would think about you and just letting change happen.
The choreography of this track shows a classy and mature concept. The boys look so elegant wearing those suits and their dance moves are highlighted throughout the video.
A song in this album titled Oasis was composed by their member TAG.
A Woo!! (from A Woo!!, 2022)
5 years after their debut, Golden Child finally entered the Japanese music scene and released their first-ever Japanese single A Woo!!
And just like their Korean albums, A Woo!! topped in charts and set records for Golden Child! It was truly a successful debut because on their debut day, Golden Child ranked 1st on Oricon Daily Singles Chart!
Their Japanese single is something they’ve never tried before but as expected of Golden Child, they slayed this album so much!
In this album, they also released the Japanese version of their hit songs Wannabe and DamDaDi.
Rata-Tat-Tat (from Rata-Tat-Tat, 2022)
Golden Child proved their popularity in Japan as they released their 2nd Japanese single for that year!
Their new song Rata-Tat-Tat showed Golden Child’s musical versatility. Everyone looked so cool and handsome in this music video too!
Since their leader Daeyeol enlisted in 2022, he wasn’t a part of this music release, which also marks Golden Child’s first release as a 9-member group.
Replay (from Aura, 2022)
After releasing 2 Japanese singles, Golden Child finally came back with a new Korean album!
Replay is a song about the desire to turn back time and go back to the past. This song features a unique and energetic choreography and a high-quality performance by Golden Child. This album showed Golden Child’s intense aura and sexy charm. As expected of Golden Child, this song is a masterpiece.
Composer TAG also included his song Purpose in this album.
Even though this comeback didn’t receive any music show wins, Golden Child still gave their all as this has been their first comeback after a year. Goldenness misses them so much and seeing Golden Child releasing more music is their fans’ happiness!
Crayon (from Invisible Crayon, 2023)
Golden Child came back with yet another Japanese hit single!
Their song Crayon is a hit on the Japanese music charts! This song has a very upbeat sound that also highlights Golden Child’s amazing voices.
Along with the title track Crayon, Japanese versions of their songs Replay and Ra Pam Pam, and another Japanese song Weekends were a part of this release.
Sungyoon, popularly known as Y, was already enlisted at the time of the release, but he still participated in the making of this album.
Feel Me (from Feel Me, 2023)
And one year later since the release of Replay, Golden Child came back with another Korean album with the title track Feel Me.
Feel Me is a song that the youth can relate to. Falling under the post-grunge-rock genre, Feel Me gives a youthful vibe through its lyrics and music video.
Feel Me is that feel-good song that we all need that will comfort us in times of hardship.
This album also includes TAG’s composition Dear.
Since Daeyeol was discharged last September 2023, he already participated in this album! Thus, 9 members of Golden Child are present in this comeback.
It has been a wonderful 7 years so far! 7 years of hard work and dedication were poured into all these songs. True to their name, Golden Child proved that they will shine like gold. 7 years (and counting) of amazing performances and showcasing of talent is strong proof that an artist is making its name in the industry.
Goldenness are proud of Golden Child and everything they did. We still have 93 more years together so Goldenness are always watching out for Golden Child. Goldenness will be with Golden Child forever!
We still have a long way to go. More songs and albums will be released and Golden Child will be known by everyone.
