2023 with Golden Child
The year 2023 is an amazing year for Korean entertainment. New dramas, new movies, and new songs are being released monthly.
One of those who are active throughout this year is the K-pop boy group Golden Child. Golden Child worked so hard this year that you can see them everywhere, be it as a group or individually.
Now that 2023 is coming to an end, let’s take a look and see what kind of year Golden Child had.
Japanese comeback with “Invisible Crayon”
Following their 2022 Japanese debut, Golden Child came back with a brand new single titled “Invisible Crayon”, which was released last April 18, 2023.
Mini album comeback with “Feel Me”
After 1 year and 3 months, Golden Child finally came back with a brand new Korean album titled “Feel Me”.
Released on November 2, 2023, Golden Child’s new song “Feel Me” is a song that the youth can relate to. Falling under the post-grunge-rock genre, “Feel Me” gives a youthful vibe through its lyrics and music video.
Along with the release of their new song, Golden Child also appeared on music shows, radio shows, variety shows, and a lot more.
To add to that, Golden Child also released a special film of one of their songs “Blind Love”.
Although it was short, it was still a fun-filled promotion as it’s been a while since Golden Child released a Korean single and their fans missed them so much!
Golden Child held fan sign events, mini fan meeting, guerilla event, and busking for their fans!
There was a lot of content released during their promotion period as well! It was so nice to see Golden Child after so long!
Choi Sungyoon’s solo debut and enlistment
Last March 20, 2023, Golden Child’s second oldest member Choi Sungyoon, known as Y, enlisted in the military.
Before his official enlistment, Golden Child’s main vocal finally debuted solo with the digital single “If I Were The Wind“.
The time between his enlistment announcement, solo debut, and actual enlistment was pretty tight but he managed to do all these in 2 weeks.
Along with his song release, he promoted in music shows, guested in various shows, and even held a fan sign event to greet his fans and say goodbye to them before he left. He even has contents prepared for Goldenness to enjoy while he is gone.
Sungyoon is set to be discharged on September 19, 2024.
Lee Daeyeol’s discharge
After 549 days, Golden Child’s leader, Lee Daeyeol, is finally discharged!
He was discharged last September 28, 2023, and right after he was discharged, he started working on their new album!
Daeyeol shared he was still adjusting but he was so happy to be finally back with his group and meeting Goldenness. Thank you for your service Lee Daeyeol!
Golden Child 6th anniversary and Goldenness anniversary
Last August 28, 2023, Golden Child celebrated their 6th anniversary! It still feels so surreal that it has been 6 years. A lot has happened since then. Golden Child and Goldenness experienced a lot of things together, both good and bad. But what matters the most is that everyone is still together. Here’s to more 94 years together!
Of course, we can’t forget to celebrate Goldenness’ birthday! Last May 4, 2023, it was Goldenness’ birthday and the members came to wish their fans a happy birthday as well!
The bond between Golden Child and Goldenness is something special because they never fail to acknowledge each other!
Musicals
The year 2023 is also the year of musicals for Golden Child!
As of writing, Golden Child has 5 musical actors now! We love to stan versatile idols!
Bae Seungmin debuted as a musical actor in “The Prince War”. He played the role of Prince Chungnyeong.
Kim Jibeom was also cast in his first-ever musical titled “Kimz”. He played the role of Eric.
Kim Donghyun also had his musical debut and starred in the drama-turned-musical “Dream High”. He played the role of the young Song Samdong.
Hong Joochan, who is already in his 6th musical, starred in the musical “Harlan Country”. He played the role of Daniel.
Being musical actors, Golden Child proved that they’re not just your regular idols. They can sing, dance, act, and a lot more. They can pretty much do anything because they are talented like that!
Dramas
Aside from musical actors, Golden Child has actors as well!
Last September 2023, Jaehyun‘s drama started airing. Jaehyun was cast in the tvN drama “Twinkling Watermelon” and played the role of Ha Eun Ho.
Original song releases
Golden Child are composers too! Youngtaek is focused on composing and producing music.
Last March, Youngtaek released the song he produced titled “Runaway”.
In their latest album, Youngtaek also composed the song “Dear”.
Awards
Last November 30, Golden Child attended the Korea Cultural Entertainment Awards and they were awarded the K-pop Artist Award.
The Korea Cultural Entertainment Awards is an awarding body that selects winners through public votes and the opinions of cultural and entertainment experts.
With Golden Child receiving this award, this just shows that their contribution to Korean entertainment matters and recognized.

Weverse lives
Weverse is a space for Golden Child to talk with their fans. They do various things on Weverse live such as singing, dancing, playing instruments, cooking, or just chatting with Goldenness.
Golden Child is very active on Weverse, and according to Weverse, Golden Child is one of the artists who held the most Weverse lives in 2023.
Aside from their random Weverse lives, Golden Child also continued their live series/segments on Weverse.
This year, we had Donghyun’s Game Center, Joochan’s Street Light Shining Night, Seungmin’s Music Work Shop, and Jibeom’s Big Dipper.
Birthdays
With 10 people in the group, Golden Child celebrates their birthdays all year round.
The members usually do their birthday lives while eating and talking with Goldenness. It’s such a fun moment because it’s not every day you can celebrate your idol’s birthday with them!
Song covers
As expected with the best singers, they also gave their fans a few song covers this year!
Personal Instagram accounts
Last April 17, Golden Child finally opened their personal Instagram accounts!
Currently, 8 members have their own accounts. 2 members left are Sungyoon (currently in the military) and Donghyun.

Radio and variety shows, show guestings, appearances
When you think of the word hard worker, you’ll think of Golden Child. Most especially Jangjun.
Jangjun is pretty much everywhere. His schedule is packed throughout the week. He is a guest in various shows, special emcee, and a lot more.
Currently, he is a fixed guest on 3 public radio shows. Some of the shows he appeared and guested on are Kiss The Radio, GOT7 Youngjae’s Best Friend, Lunch Attack, Genuis Tomorrow, Differential Class, Weekly Idol, Lee Eunji Music Plaza, Park Sohyun Love Game, Question King Kim Taeyun, M7 Power Upgrade, Shimkoong Restaurant, The Youngest Labor, and the list goes on!
During their “Feel Me” promotion period, the entire group also appeared in different shows such as Weekly Idol, KBS Radio Unboxing, and a lot more.
Some of the members also appeared in shows such as Ifland K-pop Show, Cultwo Show, Hangang Show, Tripstar Gram, Boy Detective Kim Jiwoong, and more.
Members TAG, Jibeom, and Donghyun also graced the Seoul Fashion Week this year.
Jangjun, Donghyun, and Joochan were also invited to different baseball games to throw the first ball pitch.
2023 has been a busy and exciting year for the members as they accomplished their own and group schedules. To more shows in 2024!
Music festivals/concerts
Of course, Golden Child will never miss a chance to attend different festivals and concerts!
They performed at the Dream Concert, World K-pop Festival, CASS Cool Festival, INK Incheon K-POP Concert, One Heart Concert, 2023 Riverside Song Festival, and The Galaxy Music Festival Vol. 2 in Japan, which was Daeyeol’s first overseas schedule after his discharge.
Even Sungyoon, who is in the military, participated in the 13th Gyeryong Military Cultural Festival & 19th Ground Forces Festival as part of the Special Performance Team. Some of the members also came to see him perform!
Video contents
Just like any other year, 2023 is filled with different kinds of content for their fans to enjoy.
This year, they released the continuation of the series “Golden Memories”, which is their vlog series during their USA tour. The usual behind videos and “Ch. Gol_Cha5!” were also posted this year.
This year, members’ vlogs are also released. These vlogs are fun to watch because we get to see the casual side of the members. You can check out their Youtube page for the vlogs.
We also have a series called “GOLTIST” wherein the members, Sungyoon, Seungmin, and Joochan, are doing art. It’s nice to see Golden Child’s artistic side!
As mentioned in this article, Sungyoon prepared a video series for Goldenness called “Captain Ppo Is Here?!” Currently, there are 7 episodes and we hope there’s more to come!
Along with these video contents, Golden Child is also active on their Tiktok account so make sure to follow them there!
What’s next for Golden Child?
This year, it was announced that Bomin is cast in the upcoming drama “Spirit Fingers” and will play the role of Koo Seonho.
Jaehyun was also cast in the drama “I, A Gangster, Became A High School Student” and will play the role of Choi Sekyung.
No official announcement for the airing dates of these dramas but they will both air in 2024.
Fans are also anticipating another comeback and a world tour from Golden Child in the upcoming year.
The year 2023 showed that Golden Child excels in any kind of field. They continue to show their talent to the world as they go through this journey as a group.
