Disney+ unveils its first look at a wealth of upcoming Korean originals slated to debut and currently airing on the service in 2023.
Below is the list of TV series, documentaries, and variety shows on Disney+ this year!
1. Moving
Starring: Han Hyo Joo, Ryu Seung Ryong, and Jo In Sung
Synopsis: An original series based on the popular webtoon that tells the story of three teenagers who have incredible superpowers which they inherited from their secret agent parents. They will find themselves with their backs against the wall as government agencies across the world work to stop them in their tracks.
2. The Worst of Evil
Starring: Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Im Se Mi
Synopsis: Set in 1990’s Korea, The Worst of Evil tells the story of undercover police investigators who gain access to a large criminal organization that involves illegal drug trade between South Korea, China, and Japan.
3. Vigilante
Starring: Nam Joo Hyuk, Yoo Ji Tae, Lee Jun Hyuk, and Kim So Jin
Synopsis: Vigilante is a webtoon-based drama that talks about a police university student named Ji Yong who lost his mother when he was young to a local gangster. He tries to find his parents’ enemies and punishes the criminals.
4. Shadow Detective Season 2
Starring: Lee Sung Min, Jin Goo, Kyung Soo Jin, and Lee Hak Joo
Synopsis: Shadow Detective tells the story of Detective Taekrok who has been framed for a murder he didn’t commit. Season 1 ended with a cliffhanging finale that saw Detective Taekrok’s hopes crushed in an instant.
5. Han River Police
Starring: Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Hee Won
Synopsis: A fictional comedy-action series that depicts the crazy antics of Seoul’s Han River Police Force as they patrol the waterways and respond to emergency situations including terrorist incidents, accidents, and more.
6. Race
Starring: Lee Yeon Hee, Hong Jong Hyun, Moon So Ri, and U-Know
Release Date: May 10, 2023
Synopsis: What Park Yoon Jo lacks in qualifications and experience she more than makes up for in tenacity and drive, but when everyone in the company discovers that several recent hires were made as part of a newly created diversity program, Yoon Jo will have to overcome the insurmountable to win their approval.
7. SUGA: Road to D-Day
Starring: Suga of BTS
Synopsis: A documentary follows SUGA as he travels around the world in search of musical inspiration for his upcoming album D-DAY. Throughout the documentary, viewers will see the star at his most vulnerable, as he discusses his writer’s block with other musicians, and delves deep into his most traumatic memories to pen lyrics for several of his latest songs. It is now available for streaming on Disney+.
8. FULL COUNT
Synopsis: A Disney+ exclusive in 2023, follows the highs and lows of ten Korean professional baseball teams as they attempt to swing, bunt and steal their way into contention for the coveted title of 2022 Korean Series Champions.
9. PSY SUMMER SWAG 2022
Starring: PSY
Synopsis: PSY’s first summer swag concert since the pandemic, dancing and jumping along to the hit global sensation “Gangnam Style” under the hot summer sun. It is now streaming on Disney.
10. The Zone: Survival Mission 2
Starring: Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kwon Yuri
Synopsis: The second series of this hit Korean variety show promises more puzzles, laughs, and hilarious situations than ever before.
11. Pandora: Beneath the Paradise
Starring: Lee Ji Ah, Lee Sang Yoon, Jang Hee Jin, Park Ki Woong, and Bong Tae Gyu
Synopsis: Tells a story of a woman named Hong Tae Ra who has no recollection of her past when she regains her memories from the past, she takes her revenge on those people who are responsible for it.
12. Family: The Unbreakable Bond
Starring: Jang Hyuk, Jang Nara, and Chae Jung An
Synopsis: Family: The Unbreakable Bond is a comedy-drama that depicts a husband named Kwon Do Hoon, a NIS agent who is disguised as an employee at a local trading company. He keeps this secret from everyone including his beloved wife, Kang Yura but little does he know that his wife has an explosive secret of her own.
13. Dr. Romantic Season 3
Starring: Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Lee Sung Kyung
Synopsis: Dr. Romantic is a healing medical series that revolves around the doctors working in the countryside at Doldam Hospital.
14. Revenant
Starring: Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, and Hong Kyung
Synopsis: A mystery thriller drama follows the story of San Yeong, a public prosecutor who partners up with Hae Seong who has the ability to see the dead in an attempt to break the curse that has ruined both of their families.
15. The First Responders 2
Starring: Kim Rae Won, Son Ho Jun, and Gong Seung Yeon.
Synopsis: Fictional emergency service workers cooperating to solve cases.
