The cast of ‘Family: The Unbreakable Bond’ talks about how their drama is the most anticipated drama of the year

The new Disney+ drama Family: The Unbreakable Bond will be available for streaming starting on May 5, 2023!

During their press conference last April 12, the cast of Family: The Unbreakable Bond talked about their drama being the most anticipated drama of 2023 yet.

With the ensemble cast and top-notch storyline, this drama is going to be a hit for sure!

Family: The Unbreakable Bond is a comedy-drama depicting a husband named Kwon Do Hoon, a NIS agent disguised as an employee at a local trading company.

He keeps this secret from everyone including his beloved wife, Kang Yura but little does he know that his wife has an explosive secret of her own.

Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara play the roles of Kwon Do Hoon and Kang Yura, respectively. While Chae Jung An portrays the role of a NIS operative and Do Hoon’s boss named Oh Chun Ryu.

Director Jang Jeong Do discuss what this drama is like and how the powerful cast made an impact on the story. He also shared that the drama is about the bond between the family and how trust is important to a family. As well as trusting the people outside your own home.

Director Jang Jeong Do also shared the duality of the cast in this drama. Each of the characters can be both comical and heavyweight. He added that the overall structure of the drama is like a sitcom. They wanted to highlight the characters as much as possible.

He added that there were a lot of adlibs and improvs in the entire drama which made it richer.

Golden duo Jang-Jang reunion project

After 9 years, Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara are reunited for a brand new project.

These two veteran actors have worked a total of 4 times already.

Jang Hyuk shared that he saw Jang Nara in her 20s, 30s, and 40s. They grew up and matured together through the years. Jang Hyuk said, “We feel at ease with each other.”

Jang Nara said that they feel like siblings. If given a chance for another project, she said she will be there.

They were asked if they feel some kind of difference after working for the fourth time, and Jang Hyuk said that they look the same as when they first started working. The only difference is in their roles: they went from single people, to a married couple, and now they have a kid together. In Jang Hyuk’s words, he said: “We have a franchise (drama series) of how life would be like as you grow old”.

Their great chemistry is what made this drama more exciting for the cast and the viewers.

About their characters

Jang Hyuk plays the role of Kwon Do Hoon, a NIS agent who is disguised as an employee at a local trading company. He keeps this secret from his wife.

Jang Hyuk said that it’s been a while since his last comedy drama but this one is fun to do since he worked with Jang Nara again. He also added that for his role, he has to be agile and immersed in his character.

When asked how he was able to do both action and comedy, he said it was hard but it depends on the situation. He added that he wanted to adapt to the ambiance of the scene he is working on.

Jang Nara plays the role of Kang Yura, wife of Kwon Dohoon. She also has a secret that she has been keeping to herself.

Now that she’s playing the role of a mother, she shared that her character takes care of the house and the family. She also added that their daughter in the drama Kwon Minseo (played by Shin Su A) is a very smart kid.

Since getting married, this is Jang Nara’s first show as a housewife and she said that her role and her role as a real wife isn’t much of a difference.

Oh Chun Ryu is played by actress Chae Jung An. She will portray the role of a NIS operative and Do Hoon’s boss. She shared that she did a lot of action scenes for the role and they were challenging.

Kim Nam Hee plays the role of Jo Tae Koo, whose character is related to Kang Yura’s character. He shared that his character is an uninvited guest in the family. He added that once you see his character, you’ll feel such an ominous vibe from him.

Why should you watch Family: The Unbreakable Bond?

“It’s like an omniverse of dramas”, Jang Hyuk said. There are a lot of universes in this drama and intriguing twists.

Jang Nara shared that this drama is very charming. This drama is just like a well: as it goes deeper, it becomes more interesting.

Chae Jung An added that you’ll be suspicious of each character as you watch.

Finally, Kim Nam Hee said that this drama conveys laughter, action, and heart-touching emotions. He recommended watching this drama while drinking a beer!
