Get to know South Korean Actor, Cho Jung Seok!

Cho Jung Seok is quite a heart stealer! As an actor, the characters he’d portrayed throughout his acting career were indeed memorable. He is often associated with the role Uju’s amazing dad, Lee Ikjun from the series, Hospital Playlist.

The series is currently on its second season now where Jung Seok continues to steal our hearts due to his amazing acting skill! If you are curious, here are some of the interesting facts about him!

Theater major

Indeed, Jung Seok has wanted to perform ever since! As a student, he went to Seoul Institute of the Arts and majored in Theater. Since Jung Seok didn’t come from a well-off family, he took a student loan to went to University.

He got exempted from the military

While studying in SIA, his father suddenly passed in 2000, making his mother fully dependent on him. This circumstance allowed Jung Seok to skip conscripting in the army to work and be the breadwinner of his family.

Debuted in theatre stage

Since Jung Seok is the main provider of his family, he quit school to perform in theater and musicals. His theater debut was in 2004 when he took a part in The Nutcracker. Jung Seok even joined some popular musicals performed in Broadway-like GreaseHedwig and the Angry Inch, and Spring Awakening!

Jung Seok who portrayed Moritz is also joined by fellow actor, Kang Ha Neul who played Ernst in Spring Awakening.

He won a couple of Best Supporting Actor award as Moritz in the said musical.

Architecture 101 is his big-screen breakthrough project

A few years after, Jung Seok got a small television role in What’s Up! But in 2012, he was able to capture the public’s eye due to his role as Nabddeuk in Architecture 101. The movie also stars Bae Suzy, Lee Jehoon, Uhm Taewoong, and Han Gain.

Cho Jung Seok even won the Best New Actor award in Korean Culture and Entertainment Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards. His role in this film allowed him to land on several dramas and films that we love till today! Some of the dramas he worked on were Oh My Ghost!, Two Cops, Familiar Wife, and Hospital Playlist.

As for big-screen roles, he starred on My Love, My BrideMy Annoying Brotherand EXIT.

An incredible singer!

Having been starred in several musicals, it is no brainer that Jung Seok can sing! He recorded songs to several musicals that he took part in First Love, Organ in My Heart, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. As for OSTs, he also sang My Love, My Bride’s couple song with Shin Min Ah.

He also worked with EXO’s D.O to cover Lee Juck’s Don’t Worry for My Annoying Brother. His version of COOL’s Aloha for Hospital Playlist topped the charts allowing him to also take over the OST field.

Relationship goals with Gummy

If you aren’t aware, Jung Seok is already off the market~! He’s been in a relationship with Gummy since 2013. Yes, the Gummy that we know as one of the OST Queens! The couple has been private with their relationship eversince.

However, Gummy once shared in a variety show, Come Back Home that while doing a wedding photoshoot in 2018, Jung Seok prepared a video proposal for her! They’ve got married in a private ceremony in 2018.

Girldad

In August 2020, the couple welcomed a daughter making Jung Seok a member of the girl-dad club. We may not know how Jung Seok is a dad off-cam, but we assume he is also a goofy dad like how he is to Uju!
