Seo Yea Ji stars in the rerun of stage play ‘Hymn of Death’
Actress Seo Yea Ji is making a comeback in acting through her stage play debut!
In 2024, the actress signed an exclusive contract with Sublime Artist Agency, marking her return to the entertainment industry.
After a long hiatus, the actress is going to challenge herself and show her acting prowess in the rerun of ‘Hymn of Death’, a stage play that depicts the love of artists living in the turbulent times of the 1920s and their unwavering yearning for freedom.
Seo Yea Ji will play the role of the ill-fated soprano Yoon Sim Deok, a woman who never gave up on art, love, and her own choices despite the oppression of her time, showcasing a charm distinct from her dramas and films.
It premiered at the LG Arts Center in Seoul in July 2025 and delivered deeply moving performances by actors including Jeon So Min, Yoon Si Yoon, Lee Chung Joo, and Seo Ye Hwa, and continued to sell out every day thanks to its solid quality.
Based on this success, the play has confirmed its resurgence at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts’ M Theater. Jeon So Min, who took the stage for the first time last season as Yoon Sim Deok, will also return in 2026’s “Hymn of Death,” raising expectations.
While the 2025 season followed the characters through love and emotion, the 2026 version will focus more on the “process of choice” and “character subjectivity” leading up to the conclusion. In particular, Yoon Sim Deok is reimagined as a character who chooses her own life and relationships, rather than someone pushed by tragedy.
Also revealed as cast members of the play are Park Eun Seok and Kwak Si Yang, who will take on the role of Kim Woo Jin, a playwright who constantly wavers between ideals and reality.
‘Hymn of Death’ will be performed at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts’ M Theater from January 30, 2026, to March 2, 2026. Tickets are now available for purchase through NOL Ticket and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts website.
Congratulations on this exciting comeback, Yea Ji!
