Choi Woo Shik was born on March 26, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea. When he was 10 years old, his family migrated to Vancouver, Canada, where he spent the next 10 years of his life.

His English name is Edward Choi and is nicknamed Eddie.

While he was studying at Simon Fraser University in 2010, his parents gave him permission to attend an acting audition in South Korea which led to his acting debut.

Choi Woo Shik majored in cultural studies at Chung-Ang University, for the reason of not being familiar with the Korean culture since he grew up in Canada.

In 2011, he made his acting debut in the period drama The Duo. Choi Woo Shik played supporting roles during his rookie years and eventually, became the lead.

Choi Woo Shik has been acting for 12 years.
