THE ZONE: Survival Mission is finally back with a brand new season! A new season plus two new agents, season 3 might be the best one yet!

Ahead of its premiere in Disney+ on August 7, the agents of mankind Yu Jaeseok and Kwon Yuri with new cast members Kim Donghyun and DEX, together with Directors Cho Hyojin and Kim Dongjin talked about their new season with the press.

The concept of season 3

PD Cho Hyojin shared that they wanted to make something fresh and original. They also wanted to convey empathy and scale up the challenges. He also shared that they wanted to create situations that the viewers could relate to. They have challenges related to AI and mortgage issues, which viewers can very much relate to.

PD Cho also added that this new season has been challenging and adventurous. “The missions became harder to endure,” he added. Although the missions weren’t easy, the end product was amazing.

Through the new season, they wanted the viewers to emphasize, according to PD Kim.

According to PD Cho, there were a lot of missions they wanted to do in the previous seasons but they couldn’t. But now that they have two new members with extreme physical strengths, they were able to incorporate those missions in season 3.

Season 3 vs the previous seasons

According to the cast, season 3 is much more leveled up than the previous ones.

Yu Jaeseok said that the concept is different this time, and what sets this season apart from the previous seasons is that season 3 has two new agents. Yu Jaeseok added that there is great chemistry among the members. “The first episode was quite something, it threw me off,” Jaeseok shared.

Kwon Yuri added that the two new members are in a different level and weight class from them that’s why the missions leveled up. Yuri added that the overall experience was fun and interesting. Jaeseok also shared that Yuri enjoyed season 3 the most and that she provided a lot of laughable moments.

Two new agents of mankind, Kim Donghyun and Dex

Two new agents of mankind, Kim Donghyun and Dex, also shared their thoughts about their first season!

Both were avid fans of the show and even said that they watched all of the episodes. Kim Donghyun said that if he were to do the missions from the previous seasons, it would still be hard and challenging.

Dex said that the missions looked easy, but if you try it yourself, it’s not easy at all. Dex jokingly said that viewers should watch out for him and whether he survives or not. He also added that he may look like a tough guy, but he isn’t at all. He liked how the concept of the show makes you adapt and fully immersed because of the setting.

Chemistry between the members

It was already evident in the previous seasons that Yu Jaeseok and Kwon Yuri had great chemistry. These two helped each other a lot in missions. We’ve seen their banters, but in the end, they still worked together to complete their missions.

Jaeseok described Dex as a reliable member who always comes to the rescue. On the other hand, Donghyun is a UFC fighter but he gets scared easily and is a total softie, according to Jaeseok.

Yuri also shared that with the new members, it brought out a different side of her.

For this new season, the most talked about pairing is Yuri and Dex. The members shared that they had great chemistry. Yuri even shared that she was surprised that Dex was always there to help her. She said, “Naturally, he came to my rescue.”

Dex explained that he didn’t intend to do this but he was always ready to help. He jokingly said, “I thought I was shooting ‘Singles Inferno’.”

Lee Kwangsoo leaving the show

Lee Kwangsoo was a part of the first 2 seasons and his role in the show made it more fun. It’s a shame that he wasn’t part of the second season but the members wish him the best.

Jaeseok expresses his regrets because of Kwangsoo not joining them this time but he hopes that Kwangsoo will return for season 4 together with the two new cast members. “If he were here, we would be invincible,” Jaeseok added.

Message to the viewers

The cast members and directors invite the viewers to watch their new season and thank the fans as well as it wouldn’t be possible without their support.

Yu Jaeseok hopes the viewers will find the new season entertaining so that the 4th season will be possible.

Kwon Yuri expresses her love and gratitude to all the fans. She also hopes to continue to work on the show for the 4th season.

Kim Donghyun, who is a fan of the show, thanked the show for having him and shared that he will be watching with his family as soon as it’s available for viewing.

Dex, the show’s maknae, said that this show is hilarious but conveys messages regarding our societal issues.

PD Kim expresses his excitement as they are back with a new season and hope that their show will be entertaining to all viewers especially now that it is the summer season.

PD Cho shared that this new season will bring out great chemistry among the members.
