Love is sweeter the second time around in “Everyone Loves Me”
Everyone Loves Me is a C-drama to add to your watchlist if you’re a fan of video games and second-chance romance!
Everyone Loves Me is a Chinese drama about Yue Quan Ling (played by Zhou Ye), an artist and gamer who gets rejected by her crush, Gu Xun (played by Lin Yi). Unknown to her, she was rejected because Gu Xun has a crush on his online friend “Sticky Dough Twist” who is actually Quan Ling! The two suddenly end up being workmates and neighbors, working their way into the gaming industry as well as each other’s hearts.
This C-drama may not exactly be like the K-drama Start-Up, but if you like learning more about business and office romance, then you might give this one a try!

The main leads’ chemistry and acting
This C-drama has a combination of comedy, romance, and a tinge of drama and angst. Zhou Ye and Lin Yi were able to portray their characters well and brought them to life. Zhou Ye played Quan Ling as an innocent-faced woman with a very strong personality. Lin Yi was able to portray Gu Xun as serious but goofy at the same time with a heavy past.
Both actors stood out in their acting, and even if they weren’t on screen together, their portrayal was good! It gets even better if they’re together in heart-swooning scenes.
A glimpse of the gaming industry
Quen Ling and Gu Xun are both gamers and appear to be very skilled at it. These two used their love for gaming as an advantage in their jobs.
Much like the K-drama Start-Up that introduced the world of business, creating apps and IT coding, Everyone Loves Me showed the business side of video games, how games are conceptualized, avatars are drawn, the process for a game to be finished, even terms from the gaming industry are introduced!
About reaching your dreams
Gu Xun’s dream is to create a triple-A game which is impossible to do. However, he was very persistent in reaching his dream. Despite getting rejections and getting into arguments because of his impossible dream, that didn’t stop him from reaching it.
The female lead is quirky and has a strong personality
Quan Ling is the female lead who’s quirky and funny. She likes to let Gu Xun know how she feels, always wants to be by his side, and finds ways for him to notice her.
Quan Ling is also not afraid to speak her mind. When a person threatens her, she will tell them immediately that they are rude, same goes when someone is treating her friend badly. When Gu Xun was trying to win her feelings back, she didn’t give in and was grounded on avoiding Gu Xun. That is before she got to know him better and eventually, fell in love with him again.
The story is light and simple
If you’re tired of watching heavy, dramatic dramas, this C-drama is a breather. Though this story has real-life situations about work and internal struggles, it also has a storyline of making new friends, challenging yourself, and having people believe in you. Not to mention Quen Ling and Gu Xun’s romance story is a slow burn that took time to build up and was not rushed.
