IU Successfully Wraps Up HEREH World Tour in Manila with 37,000 Fans Present
IU breaks history as the first-ever Korean soloist to grace the Philippine Arena, the world’s largest indoor venue in Bocaue, Bulacan. The said arena serves as her setting for her highly anticipated HEREH WORLD TOUR IN MANILA, and fans present were all treated to an amazing 3-hour show.
Made possible by Pulp Live World, IU returned to meet more fans since her last visit in 2019.
Despite the hot and humid weather, MAAENAS patiently lined up for the strapping and merchandise pop-up booth, all out of love for IU. As the sun set, the venue was quickly filled with fans in various fashion inspirations related to IU.
Happiest MAAENAS with IU
Kicking off the event, IU started with Holssi, JamJam, and Ah Puh. She greeted the crowd with her impressive Tagalog. She even expressed how she missed her fans with, “Namiss ko kayong lahat.”
Following this, IU continued her performance with Bbibbi and Obliviate.
IU recalled the first time she performed in Manila and was still in awe of how “loud” her Filipino fans could be. However, now that she’s back in a bigger venue, the number of fans who came to see her grew together with her loudest cheers!
For IU, she enjoys performing and appreciates the accuracy of MAAENAs singing her songs.
A special gift, just for MAAENAs
IU surprised the crowd with a cover of Sunkissed Lola’s Pasilyo. She mentioned how she liked the song the first time she heard it. Luckily, fans were able to sing along with IU!
On top of her special song performance, IU shared a special gift prepared by her mom. It became a tradition during the HEREH World Tour that each stop would receive a gift!
Ang galing, ang ganda, ang galing galing! – IU
MAAENAs continued to prove that they are one of the best crowds. IU continued to praise her audience and even exclaimed that they were the best audience. To which, Filipino MAAENAs reciprocated with more cheers!
It even became a showdown when IU chanted “Manila! Manila! Manila!” wherein MAAENAs answered, “IU! IU! IU!” A night to remember to the crowd with a playful IU!
Lucky MAAENAS goes unnoticed
While performing Bleuming, IU was holding a giant flower towards the end and gave it to a lucky MAAENA. A lucky coin was also distributed after performing Coin.
While performing I stan U, MAAENAs raised a banner to IU’s surprise. Another banner was also raised during her Shopper performance. These banners were recognized and posted by IU herself!
All the efforts made by her Filipino fanbase were worth it!
Successfully covers ‘Good Day’
As the concert neared its end, MAAENAs boldly sang IU’s iconic hit, Good Day. IU teased MAAENAs, saying that she was worried at the first few lines but was surprised at how much effort the crowd put into singing the chorus!
For IU, it was her first time hearing a 37,000-strong crowd serenading her with this iconic hit. It’s also a bonus that it was sung beautifully, just for her.
“It is the very best day that I will never forget in my life,” IU claimed.
“I’ll Be Back Soon” – IU
Before bidding farewell, IU once again thanked MAAENAs for being present. They were once worried at first due to the weather but were surprised to see the number of fans present. IU even exclaimed that she may return next month due to the energy she’s received from the crowd.
One thing is for sure: IU promises that it will not take her another five years to meet her MAAENAs again.
And to perfectly end the night, IU concludes her tour with Palette, a special request from her MAAENAs.
True enough, being part of the audience is an overwhelming yet heartwarming experience. It was a night to remember for every MAAENA and, for sure, for IU too.
