Early Life

Sungjong’s journey of music began in his hometown of Gwangju City. However, at the age of nine, he relocated to Andong, where his passion for music continued to grow. Sungjong hails from a loving family and has a younger brother, Lee Seongyu, who is three years his junior.

He pursued his education at Jeonju Arts High School, graduating on February 7, 2012. Alongside his academic pursuits, Sungjong was dedicated to his blossoming career in the world of K-pop. He embarked on a journey that would soon see him as an integral part of one of South Korea’s most celebrated 2nd gen boy group.


Sungjong’s introduction to INFINITE and the K-pop industry was marked by his appearance in the pre-debut reality show titled “You Are My Oppa.” This was his first step into the limelight as a member of INFINITE. The group officially debuted on June 9, 2010, captivating the music scene with their unique sound and compelling performances.

As a vocalist of INFINITE, Sungjong contributed his distinct voice to the group’s harmonious melodies. His journey with INFINITE would see him evolve both as an artist and as a beloved idol, endearing himself to fans worldwide.


Sungjong’s versatility and musical talent were further showcased when he was announced as a member of INFINITE F, a sub-unit of INFINITE. Alongside fellow members Sungyeol and L, they brought a fresh dynamic to the group. The unit debuted with the song ‘가슴이 뛴다,’ featured in INFINITE’s 2nd album, ‘Season 2.’

In November 2014, INFINITE F made their official debut in Japan with the album ‘Koi No Sign.’ Shortly after, they marked their debut in Korea with the single album ‘Azure’ on December 2, 2014. This expansion into sub-units allowed Sungjong to explore his musical prowess in different contexts.

A journey beyond Woollim Entertainment

On January 24, 2022, news broke that Sungjong’s contract with Woollim Entertainment, the agency that nurtured INFINITE, had come to an end. He made the decision not to renew the contract, marking a significant turning point in his career.

In September 2022, Sungjong took another leap as he signed with SPK Entertainment, embarking on a new chapter of his journey as an artist.

Solo Career

As Sungjong continued to captivate fans with his talents, he ventured into the realm of solo activities. On October 30, 2022, he held the 2022 Lee Sungjong HALLO-CON fan meeting, themed “WONDERLAND: HALLOWEEN.” This marked an exciting milestone in his solo endeavors.

Sungjong’s solo journey expanded further when he held his first solo fan meeting in Taiwan, creating cherished memories with fans beyond South Korea.

The most thrilling announcement came on February 24th, 2023, when it was revealed that Sungjong would be making his official solo debut. His 1st Single Album, titled ‘The One,’ and the eponymous single were set to be released on March 13.

Lee Sungjong has emerged from his role as the maknae of INFINITE to embark on an exciting solo journey. With his melodious voice, charming personality, and dedication to his craft, he continues to be a source of inspiration and joy for fans around the world.
