Director Kim Yong-hwa proudly talks about his amazing cast in ‘The Moon’
A very satisfied Director Kim Yong-hwa praises his exemplary casting for The Moon.
“They are all such skilled actors that even if they were acting separately, their emotions, tone, and manner were perfectly synchronized, which surprised me.” are the words Director Kim Yong-hwa expressed as he talks about his lead stars, Sul Kyung-gu, Doh Kyung-soo, and Kim Hee-ae, for The Moon.
The thrilling and emotional space movie follows the story of Korea’s attempt to be the second person to land on the moon. Due to its disastrous first attempt, it took Korea seven years to finally launch a second human space flight. However, a strong solar wind causes it to malfunction, leaving one astronaut, Sun Woo (played by Doh), stranded in space.

Facing another fatal catastrophe, the Naro Space Center turns to its former managing director, Dr. Kim ( played by Sul), to help bring Sun-woo back home safely. In the film, each of the three main characters is in a setting that is different from the others.

With the cast’s stellar performances, Director Kim claims that audiences should anticipate a chemistry that surpasses the distance of 384,000 kilometers between the Moon and the Earth.
Get ready for the cast’s amazing chemistry
In The Moon, each character is separated in various places, with Dr. Kim in the Korean Naro Space Center, the lone Sun-woo stranded in the vastness of space, and Director Yoon (played by Kim) at NASA in the United States. This requires the actors to convey their performances through communication and phone conversations without physically being in the same space.

Despite not being able to act scenes in one space, the actors portrayed their roles on another level, allowing the audience to witness the intense energy that carries the film.
