Kill Boksoon successfully premiered on Netflix on March 31. With its action-themed genre, fans all over the world are raving about how the film showcases the actors’ skills and, of course, its unique storyline about motherhood.
In an interview with the cast and director of Kill Boksoon, director Byun Sung-hyun mentioned that he played around with the lines from the script to create an impact on the viewer. Mainly, the line “Dull knives hurt more” is his own way of paying tribute to Jeon Do-yeon and Sol Kyung-gu for working with him on this film.
Collectively, we ask the members about the other lines that stuck with them while working on the said film.
Director Byun Sung-hyun’s emphasis on being true to oneself
“I just wanted to stay true. To myself”
Gil Jae-young

This line shared by Director Byun was one of the messages he wanted to convey throughout the entire film. This line is delivered by Gil Jae-young to her mother when things get heated between the two. Boksoon remarked how she admired her daughter for staying true.
Fans can definitely witness how Jae-young started to trust her mother a little bit through this scene. Also, it’s as if Jae-young is leaving her mother some thoughts to ponder that can be applicable to audiences too: we can learn something from a child.
Jeon Do-yeon’s view when it comes to motherhood
“Killing people is easy, compared to raising one.”
Gil Boksoon

The actress jokingly said that she had a lot of great lines. However, one of her favorites would be the line above. Do-yeon added that the director’s way of directing the lines from the script is something of a black comedy.
It might have been a light scene when Boksoon made this remark, but truth be told, doing other work is much lighter than being a parent. For sure, a lot of parents, especially mothers, can relate to Boksoon with this phrase!
Sol Kyung-gu’s melodramatic perspective on Cha Min-kyu
“I wanted her to be by my side even if I need to use a knife.”
Cha Min-kyu

Kill Boksoon is primarily described as an action thriller. But not for Sol Kyung-gu! Kyung-gu described his character, Cha Min-kyu, as someone who is blinded by love. In other words, he’s fallen for Boksoon and is taking advantage of his position as chairman of M.K. Ent. to keep her close by.
It’s actually quite ironic and fitting for Min-kyu’s character. Even though he has the power to move the heavens to make Boksoon stay with him, he can only rely on a silent hope without being vocal about it. Fans can resonate with his character, especially if they admire someone they can’t keep. Anyone who’s hopelessly romantic may understand Min-kyu’s sentiments.
