“The King: Eternal Monarch” kicks off with double-digit rating!

After three years, The King, Lee Min Ho made a grand comeback in small screen alongside Kim Go Eun with “The King: Eternal Monarch.”

The fantasy-romance drama premiered yesterday and showed signs of a great start. Yesterday, according to Nielsen Korea, the premiere episode recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 10.1% and 11.4%. It is the highest rating drama among SBS’ Friday-Saturday dramas for the premiere.

“The King: Eternal Monarch” pictures the story of two parallel universes, one is “Corea” which is a consitutional monarchy and the other is the present-day “Korea.” Lee Min Ho portrays the role of Lee Gon, the fourth ruler of the Kingdom of Corea, and Kim Go Eun portrays the role of Detective Jeong Tae Eul.

Before “The King: Eternal Monarch” was released, SBS’ ranking of highest first airing broadcast for Friday-Saturday dramas were “The Fiery Priest” (10.4%), “Vagabond” (10.4%), and “Hyena” (10.3%).

Stream “The King: Eternal Monarch” on Netflix every Friday and Saturday.
