MEI MEI Brings Fresh Filipina Energy to the OPM Scene with Debut Single ‘Telebong’

A new generation of proudly Filipina pop energy has officially arrived, and honestly? We are SO ready for it.

Meet MEI MEI, the newest eight-member girl group under Groovy Garden Records, who are finally making their long-awaited debut with a colorful identity, relatable charm, and a whole lot of Filipino heart.

The group is composed of members Alexa, Jhamayka, Ada, Aerise, Thea, Jessie, Yuni, and Dina, eight girls from different walks of life who come together to represent today’s modern Filipina generation: soft yet strong, playful yet passionate, confident yet grounded.

While “mei mei” is known in Chinese culture as an affectionate term meaning “little sister,” the group’s name also feels instantly familiar to Filipinos because of our own culture of repeated nicknames like “Mai-Mai,” “Len-Len,” and “Jan-Jan.” It’s warm, catchy, and comforting, exactly the kind of energy MEI MEI wants to bring into the OPM scene.

The group officially launches under Groovy Garden Records, the newly established label of PULP Music Group, the music arm of the PULP Group. The name sounds adorable, that’s because it is. After more than two decades of helping pioneer the K-pop wave in the Philippines through legendary concerts and events, PULP is now stepping deeper into artist development, music production, and talent management to introduce a new wave of Filipino artists to the global stage.

Leading MEI MEI’s debut is the infectious novelty-pop track ‘Telebong (Hello Po),’ an upbeat and energetic song that mixes Filipino nostalgia with modern pop production, and trust us, this one is already stuck in our heads.

Inspired by nostalgic Filipino experiences, ‘Telebong’ transforms familiar local culture into something fresh, trendy, and Gen Z-coded without losing its proudly Pinoy identity. The song opens with the respectful phrase ‘Hello Po,’ paying tribute to one of the most deeply rooted Filipino values: respect.

Even before its official release, the song has already started gaining buzz online thanks to its addictive dance challenge and signature choreography. And if you’ve already seen clips floating around your timeline… yes, mapapaindak ka talaga.

‘Telebong (Hello Po)’ officially drops on May 29 across major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.

But this is only the beginning.

MEI MEI is set to release more music in the coming months as part of their colorful introduction to the world, combining distinctly Filipino sounds, feel-good melodies, modern pop production, and dynamic performances that celebrate the many sides of Filipino identity.

Describing themselves as the “alter ego of every Filipina,” the group hopes to create music that feels joyful, empowering, comforting, and relatable, the kind of songs that instantly remind you of fun memories, inside jokes, and moments shared with friends.

With their fresh energy, relatable image, and proudly Filipino spirit, MEI MEI may just be one of the next breakout names in Philippine pop culture.

And honestly? We can already see the fandom growing.
