In what world can you imagine Budots, that unapologetically chaotic street techno sound, clash with P-pop? The quintet P-pop girl group just dropped their latest single, “BADUY,” and it’s a wild, mash-up that proves Budots doesn’t have to stay in the streets, it can own the stage, too!

Let’s be real. Budots has always had a reputation for being either “love it or laugh at it.” It’s fast, it’s loud, it’s proudly unrefined. Born from the Davao street scene, it’s the kind of sound that doesn’t need fancy lights or expensive gear to make people dance. It’s pure, unfiltered Pinoy energy: joyful, messy, and just a bit unhinged.

VVINK decided to take that homegrown sound and give it a P-pop makeover, and the result is ridiculously addictive. “BADUY” bursts with the signature Budots rhythm: upbeat tempo and looping synths. The kind of song you tell yourself you’ll play once, but two hours later, you’re still bobbing your head. I’m calling it now: this is the next big TikTok dance trend waiting to explode.

Here’s the cherry on top: the song was made with the actual Budots pioneer, DJ Love, bringing that authentic beat-maker to the track.

But what makes “BADUY” special isn’t just the beat, it’s the message. VVINK flips the word “baduy,” a term often used to tease someone for being corny or uncool, and turns it into something empowering. It’s their way of saying, “So what if it’s baduy? We love it. We’re owning it. And we’re proud of it!”

At the end of the day, you shouldn’t be ashamed if something’s baduy, especially when it’s something you truly love. Just like Budots, which many have called baduy for years, but let’s be real—it’s ours. It’s homegrown, it’s joyful, and it’s so unapologetically Pinoy!
