Netflix confirms Byeon Woo Seok to star in the live-action series, “Solo Leveling”
We will be seeing Byeon Woo Seok in a Netflix live-action series!
On July 10, Netflix revealed that Byeon Woo Seok, one of Korea’s most sought-after actors, is confirmed to star as Sung Jin Woo in a webtoon-based live-action series, Solo Leveling which garnered 14.3 billion cumulative views worldwide and has firmly held its place as its No. 1 web novel and webtoon since its debut on KakaoPage.
Its anime adaptation made history as the first Korean animation to sweep nine major categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, Best Action, and Best Character.
Solo Leveling depicts the story of Sung Jin Woo, an E-rank Hunter, the weakest Hunter who gains special abilities after a near-death experience in a double Dungeon. As he slays monsters, his level rises and becomes humanity’s unexpected hope, defending against monstrous threats emerging from beyond the tunnel that connects to another world- The Gate.
This is Woo Seok’s next original project on Netflix following the film, 20th Century Girl. He is known for his versatility in acting and made the hearts of many flutter in his widely acclaimed series, Lovely Runner as Ryu Sun Jae.
The series will be co-helmed by Lee Hae Jun and Kim Byung Seo, known for their work in films like Ashfall, Like a Virgin, Castaway on the Moon, My Dictator, and Cold Eyes. Kakao Entertainment and SANAI PICTURES are set to produce.
The upcoming live-action series adaptation promises to feature vivid characters, dynamic action sequences, and exhilarating quests, brought to life by a world-class global VFX team. The series will also introduce viewers to fantastical dungeons and uniquely powerful monsters, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations.
Byeon Woo Seok is set to deliver an unforgettable portrayal of Jin Woo’s evolution and action-packed journey.
