I think it’s safe to say that it’s been months but we’re still in our Lovely Runner high.

Lovely Runner follows the story of Im Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon), a fan of the Korean boy band Eclipse. After the band’s reunion concert, Ryu Sun Jae (played by Byeon Woo Seok), also Sol’s bias, suddenly died.

Sol is devasted about the death of her favorite singer. Through Sun Jae’s old watch, Sol was transported back in time, 2008, to be exact. In 2008, Sol must find a way to save Sun Jae from death.

All along she thought she had only one goal: to save Sun Jae. Little did she know, she got to experience life once again but this time, with Sun Jae.

Ended with 16 episodes last May 29, Lovely Runner reached high viewership ratings after every episode. This shows how popular the drama is not only in Korea but also worldwide.

Lovely Runner has something in it that makes the viewers watch out for it every single week.

If you haven’t watched it yet, here are a few reasons why you should watch tvN’s hit 2024 drama, Lovely Runner!

Warning: There might be a few spoilers ahead

The chemistry of the main lead

Lovely Runner is Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok’s first drama together. Their chemistry on-screen is one of the best and realest I’ve seen so far. I get so kilig every time they are together. They successfully portrayed the love between Sol and Sun Jae and I think it’s one of the reasons why this drama is loved by many. I can truly feel that Sol and Sun Jae’s love for each other is genuine because of the actors’ realistic portrayal of the couple.

Even their off-screen chemistry is unbeatable as they become good friends through this drama.

Timeslip concept

I’ve seen plenty of dramas about time traveling and I can say that Lovely Runner is totally different from them.

In the drama, Sol had a few chances to turn back time and fix whatever happened to Sun Jae. Little did she know that going back in time was more than just saving Sun Jae but also saving herself.

Since Sol went back in time many times, we get to see different versions of their story in different timelines. I find this very interesting and it’s something not common in timeslip dramas.

Moreover, Lovely Runner is not your ordinary time travel drama. This drama will teach you that no matter how many times you turn back time, you really cannot change something that has already happened. What you can do is just live in the moment and seize the day.

A true rom-com

The recipe for a true romantic comedy is a perfect balance of romance and funny moments.

You just can’t deny that Lovely Runner has both of that as I am equally swooned and laughed so hard throughout the 16 episodes.

The romance side of the drama is totally swoon-worthy as each Soljae moment got me kicking my feet so hard! The way Sol would do anything just to save Sun Jae is memorable to me and how Sun Jae loved Sol for so long left me in awe. Sol and Sun Jae are really made for each other and that makes this drama a true teller of romance!

However, for the funny side, there are a LOT of comedic scenes that I could think of. But to name a few, the scenes wherein In Hyuk caught Sun Jae a lot of times, those scenes with Sol’s mother and Sun Jae’s father, Geum, Sol’s brother, and Hyun Joo’s, Sol’s best friend, their moments together, rivalry between Sun Jae and Tae Sung, and that encounter at Sol’s family’s DVD rental shop (this one you really have to watch and see for yourself. I know you’ll be laughing so hard).

Lovely Runner is that true rom-com drama that you’ve been looking for!

The “meet-cute”

I’m always up for this kind of concept because you’ll see how the relationship of the main characters developed.

In this drama, we see 2 different versions of how Sol and Sun Jae meet. You’ll see Sol and Sun Jae’s version and I find it cute that what we thought about how they met isn’t really that!

You really have to watch this drama so you can see how they ACTUALLY met!

OST

Nothing’s better than a drama with a good OST lineup! And Lovely Runner is one proof!

Various singers lent their voices to this drama adding more emotions to every scene. Even Byeon Woo Seok himself was a part of the soundtrack!

We have N.Flying’s “Star,” ((G)I-dle) Minnie’s “Like a Dream,” Viviz Umji’s “May I Love You?,” Deundeun Man’s “Super Ultra Man,” Ateez Jongho’s “A Day,” N.Flying’s Yoo Hweseung “I Think I Did,” 10CM’s “Spring Snow,” Ha Sung Woon’s “Gift,” and Doko’s “Please Don’t Leave Anywhere.”

Lovely Runner‘s OST album consists of 3 parts: Eclipse’s songs, drama OST, and drama’s musical score.

If you ordered the OST album, it comes with Eclipse’s album wherein they have the songs “Sudden Shower,” “Run Run,” “You & I,” “No Fate,” and “I’ll Be There”.

A drama with different genres in one

Romance, fantasy, youth, comedy, crime, thriller, you name it! This drama has it!

So if you’re a fan of any of these genres, you’ll definitely enjoy watching this Lovely Runner!

He fell first and he fell harder

We love to see a man in love!

In the drama, you’ll see how Sun Jae fell in love with Sol and how he stayed in love with her for many years. His loyalty and love for Sol is really something that made me fall in love with Sun Jae and everything that he does.

It’s always nice to see two people loving each other endlessly, regardless if it’s fictional.

A story for fangirls and fanboys

The way Sol loved Sun Jae as a fan is the kind of love a fan (like us!) can give to their idols. I can totally relate to this as I’ve been devoted to my favorite artists and will support them no matter what.

Now, who would go back in time just to save her favorite person? Only Sol can!

Have I convinced you yet?

You can now watch Lovely Runner on Viu and Netflix!
