MBC confirms stellar lineup and broadcast schedule for the upcoming romance drama, “Wife of a 21st Century Prince”

On April 21, MBC confirmed that Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Sung Yeon to join IU and Byeon Woo Seok in the upcoming romance series, Wife of a 21st Century Prince.

The drama depicts the romance between a chaebol heiress named Sung Hee Joo and a prince named Lee Ahn. It is set in the 21st-century constitutional monarchy of the Republic of Korea.

IU will portray the role of Sung Hee Joo, the beautiful and intelligent second daughter of a conglomerate family. Her commoner status, which she thinks is nothing special, hinders her perfect life. She then becomes entangled with Prince Lee Ahn and ends up being in a marriage contract with him.

Byeon Woo Seok will transform into a prince who doesn’t have anything despite being the son of the king. He is the second son of the king and hides his true identity. His life changes when he meets Sung Hee Joo.

Noh Sang Hyun plays the role of a prime minister named Min Jung Woo. He is a childhood friend of Lee Ahn and a senior to Sung Hee Joo from a Royal Academy, while Gong Seung Yeon plays the role of Yoon Yi Rang, who is born with the “Destiny of a Queen.”

Wife of a 21st Century Prince will be helmed by director Park Joon Hwa, who previously worked in the series What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and Alchemy of Souls. It is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2026 as a Friday-Saturday MBC drama.
