Kim Ji Won successfully wraps up her first-ever “Be My One” fan meeting in Manila!
PH Dong Dengs are still on the clouds as they finally met their talented Queen in person!
Kim Ji Won finally fulfilled the dream of her Filipino fans to meet her and create wonderful memories with her at her first-ever sold-out “Be My One” fan meeting in Manila last August 8 held at New Frontier Theater.
Opening performance
The venue was filled with loud cheers as Kim Ji Won finally showed up on stage kicking off her fan meeting with the song, Stupid Cupid, the song which she sang in her 2011 series, What’s Up. Ji Won was so touched by how her Filipino fans warmly welcomed her that she did even not hear her in-ear. She said that because of the fans’ warm welcome, she got so excited about the fan meeting and mentioned that she heard the crowd’s cheer giving her goosebumps.
When the host of the event, Kring Kim, asked Ji Won about the first Filipino food she tried when she arrived in the Philippines, she responded that she heard that the mangoes in the Philippines are the best, so she tried mangoes when she arrived here and affirmed that it’s delicious.
Ji Won also explained why she chose the title “Be My One” at her first-ever fan meeting, “I chose this title because I wanted the fans to be together with me as one”
Deep dive into Kim Ji Won’s roles
Through this fan meeting, Filipino fans got to learn more about Kim Ji Won in different segments such as in “Be My Actor Playlist Talk” where she shared her playlists to get immersed in her roles in her dramas. Her drama, Descendants of the Sun, has a remake in the Philippines and she mentioned that when she heard that the drama was being remade in different countries, she was so thrilled seeing different versions of it and different versions of Yoon Myung Joo in various countries.
She also talked about her drama, My Liberation Notes, the role that expanded the role of Kim Ji Won, and how she relates to Yeom Mi Jeong being an introverted person. Her recent hit rom-com series, Queen of Tears, where she said that Hong Hae In’s being strong is her greatest charm and being called the “Rom-com Queen” is very overwhelming to her and motivates her to do a great job in her projects, and gives her the power to go on.
In addition, Kim Ji Won also shared that when she was portraying Hong Hae In, she focused on the change of emotions from being egoistic to the drastic fall of emotion when she found out that she was sick. She said the role of Hong Hae In is such a miraculous character for her. Ji Won also picked Hae In among her roles as her styling preference in the segment called “Be My Actor Story Styling Talk.” She said she enjoyed wearing a vast amount of wardrobe while portraying the role of Hong Hae In.
Interaction with PH Dong Dengs
Before the second part of the show began, Kim Ji Won performed Choi Yu Ri’s Promise, one of the beautiful OSTs of Queen of Tears. Ji Won mentioned that among the OSTs of the series, this song is what she likes the most.
Ji Won interacted with her fans by answering some of their questions. They also played mini-games wherein the fans needed to guess what Ji Won was drawing and also guess the drama of Ji Won and her role by listening to OSTs. Lucky fans who won the games got Queen of Tears official merchandise.
PH Dong Dengs Immense Love
Since this was Ji Won’s first time in the Philippines, they seized the moment to express their immense love for Kim Ji Won. They prepared a hand banner, and video message for Ji Won and sang the English version of 10CM’s Tell Me It’s Not a Dream, which moved her into tears. She was really touched by it and said she didn’t expect the crowd to sing for her. Look at her looking so genuinely happy!
For her final message, Ji Won said that she would be continuing the remaining fan meeting tour stops and revealed that she is preparing for her next project so she hopes that everyone will look forward to that. Ji Won describes the Philippine fan meeting as “heart-touching” and also finds the “Eyy” signature cute and fun which her Filipino fans taught her.
To wrap the event up, Ji Won performed Lee Hi’s Only. She said that it has beautiful lyrics and it is also her message to everyone. How sweet of her and we all felt her heart while she was singing it to us.
