4 things to look forward to in new drama “Frankly Speaking”

“Frankly Speaking” is a 2024 JTBC drama about a distinguished announcer who unexpectedly loses his ability to censor himself on air, inciting a TV writer to invite him on her variety show.

Brilliant cast line-up

This drama stars many talented actors that K-drama enthusiasts love to see on-screen. One of the leads is Go Kyung Pyo, who’s recognized for his lead roles in various dramas such as Reply 1988, Chicago Typewriter, Strongest Deliveryman, Private Lives, Love in Contract, and Connect.

Alongside him is Kang Han Na, who’s known for her memorable roles in Start-Up, My Roommate is a Gumiho, and Bloody Heart. She is also a beloved guest that appeared in many Running Man episodes.

They are also joined by Joo Jong Hyuk, a rising actor noted for his impactful roles in hit dramas like Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Yumi’s Cells, and Happiness.

Interesting characters

The drama is set at a broadcasting station, where different individuals with distinct personalities come together.

Song Ki Baek (played by Go Kyung Pyo) is an announcer at a broadcasting station that people look up to. One day, he gets a disease that causes him to speak everything on his mind without second thoughts. This makes him face the biggest crisis of his life yet.

Meanwhile, On Woo Joo (played by Kang Han Na) is a passionate TV variety show writer. She becomes interested in Ki Baek’s strong use of language, and she requests his appearance on her variety show.

Kim Jung Heon (played by Joo Jong Hyuk) is Woo Joo’s ex-boyfriend and Ki Baek’s high school classmate. He is a star entertainer who works as a trot singer.

Heartwarming story

Behind the ideal appearance of Song Ki Baek which everyone envies at first, is the unseen fact that he has worked harder than anyone else to reach that position as he feels responsible for his family. After an accident occurs, that’s the only time that he gets to be honest, not only to others but also to himself.

Overall, “Frankly Speaking” is said to be a drama where family, friends, and lovers can all have a good time, sharing laughter and sincere emotions together.

With Ki Baek’s helpless family, Woo Joo’s team of entertainment writers, and Jung Heon’s agency colleagues, the series is expected to feature life lessons about the stories of different people.

Exciting relationships

While Ki Baek is having problems with suppressing himself and the words that come out of his mouth, Woo Joo appears to be the only one who can put Ki Baek’s uncontrollable self to rest. Thus, Ki Baek feels safe around Woo Joo and it’s fascinating to see how their emotions would unfold.

Because of Ki Baek’s condition, it’s anticipated to see how he’d handle love confessions. With Jung Heon in the picture who seems to have lingering feelings for Woo Joo, the viewers are in for a thrill figuring out how the main characters will end up.
