#STAN_DONGHYUK – Get to know DK 김동혁 Kim Donghyuk

DK 김동혁 (Kim Donghyuk) is a member of iKON, a K-pop boy group, and the representative of Slan9, a K-pop dance crew. He is regarded as K-pop’s hidden “ace” for being a multi-talented artist. And here are the reasons why you should stan him!
Producer
Since 2020, with his first self-produced song, “Flower”, Kim Donghyuk (DK) has been involved in producing some of iKON’s discography including his own solo releases. As of February 2024, DK is credited for 25 songs in KOMCA 🇰🇷 and one song in JASRAC 🇯🇵. Listen to these playlists of the songs that he produced, written, composed, and arranged:
- DK 1st Solo Album “NAKSEO[戀]”: A double-title track album featuring “LTNS” (Long Time No See / 오랜만이야), the pre-release track, and “GROOVIN’”.

Musician
In addition to producing, DK is a skilled musician who plays multiple instruments such as guitar, piano, and drums!
DK = Dance King
Kim Donghyuk is known by his stage name DK. The iKON members and fans have crowned him with DK as the “Dance King”. He is not just iKON’s main dancer but is also involved in some of the choreography of the group’s dances and live performances. He has a keen and elegant style. He makes dancing look so easy because of his effortless and smooth moves but he also powerfully snaps on stage.
He is also the representative of Slan9 which was first introduced in May 2023. It is a dance crew that choreographs and performs various K-pop dances.
DK also shocked his fans when he posted this dance cover on his Instagram back in 2018.

Vocalist
DK’s falsettos are heavenly. His angelic voice is like a lullaby that can calm the souls of the listeners. He will make anyone swoon over him with just a few notes. If there’s only one word to describe his voice, that would be ‘eargasm’. Yes, he has a honey-like voice, but he can also easily belt high and powerful notes!
Fashion King
Donghyuk is a fashionista who can rock any fashion style and hairstyle. Cameras do not give justice to his majestic and gorgeous visuals. He looks more unreal in real life!
In 2022, he debuted as a model showcasing Ulkin’s collection in New York Fashion Week. He wore the shirt he designed for his “Smile with DK” collection, as part of his 1st fashion collab.

DJ / MC
DK as radio DJ is also known as DongDi which stands for Donghyuk DJ / DJ Donghyuk. He became involved in radio in 2017 by producing his own radio program called “Vnight with DJ Dongdong”. He has also hosted as a DJ on StationZ and Idol Radio in various episodes. In 2022, he was a special DJ for MBC’s Zero Zone Diary, a radio program that tackles environmental topics.
DK is also an amazing MC/ host. He was one of the hosts of ISAC in 2019 and Tiktok Live Stage 2020. He also accepted a last-minute invitation as a host on Naver Now in 2021, where he did so well that he amazed the show’s guests. Watch Dongdi’s videos here:

Judge and mentor
In 2022 and 2023, DK was invited as part of the judging panel in “The Indonesian Next Big Star” for 2 consecutive seasons. As a judge, he always gave detailed and constructive feedback like a mentor. Even his co-judges were amazed at how good he was at sharing helpful comments with the contestants.
Smart student
During his school year, DK was the student body president and a valedictorian with countless recognition in academics, arts, and literature.
While in elementary school, he was a foreign exchange student in the US and was addressed with an English name: Christian Ezra Daniel Kim, given by his homestay parents. To this day, he is still in touch with his American homestay family.
Bonus: His English accent is a big turn-on.

Warm person
DK’s family slogan is to be a warm person. He is also called iKONICs’ president and fan service king for always being sweet and friendly.
During iKON concerts, you can always see him going all around the concert venue. Regardless of the sections, whether in the standing or seated areas, he will try to reach out to fans by waving and sending flying kisses even to those in the further sections.
In 2023, he even attended his fans’ cafe event celebrating his birthday. The year after, in 2024, he personally organized his own birthday cafe event, Happy DK Day, in which he invited his fans to celebrate together with him. During this event, he first shared with his fans the teaser of his Documentary Film for his solo NAKSEO.
DK is an all-rounder artist and also a kind and hardworking person
Even before he debuted in iKON in 2015, he was already exposed to different competitions with extensive training. He joined JYP Trainee Search 2012 and won as a champion. He auditioned and received offers from the “Big 3” agencies: SM, JYP, YGE. He chose YGE but he had to undergo another two tough survival shows: WIN in 2013 and MIX & MATCH in 2014. And after his debut, he joined two more survival shows: Heroes of Remix in China (2016) and Kingdom (2021). His determination and perseverance are really admirable.
And with his “never stop improving” mindset, he continues to produce great songs and show amazing stages. He has become a more versatile and assertive musician. In February 2024, he produced his 1st solo album “NAKSEO[戀]”. As the main lyricist, main composer, and co-arranger for all of the 9 tracks, he has proven he is indeed an ace in the K-pop industry.
