“Exhuma” is a mystery/thriller film that features a Korean-American family that is afflicted by a generational curse. With their newborn baby being in danger, they consult shaman Lee Hwarim (Kim Goeun) along with Bonggil (Lee Dohyun). The pair, along with geomancer Kim Sangdeok (Choi Minsik), and mortician Younggeun (Yoo Haijin) strive to rid the family of this curse. Little did they know, this was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Superb cast

Choi Minsik’s acting was definitely one of my favorite parts of the film. I felt every bit of the frustration and desperation his character went through.

Kim Goeun’s performance captivated me as well, every time she was on screen, I was seated!

Lee Dohyun and Yoo Haijin also did a marvelous job with their characters!

Wonderful framing and effects

One of the things I appreciate in “Exhuma” is the framing of the scenes. It is really pleasing to see, and the thriller aspects of the show are enhanced with their execution.

Another thing I enjoyed is their portrayal of spirits. They were able to incorporate the idea of spirits not having a corporeal form, but still having an ominous presence.

Supernatural facts

As an enthusiast of all things occult, I really enjoyed how they explained and executed the topics involved. The film is good for both occult and non-occult fans, as it also gives a short explanation for topics that may be unfamiliar to some.

Take a seat… but you will only need the edge!

There is never a dull moment in “Exhuma”. The story does not drop all at once, it slowly unravels. It will get you hooked but not leave you hanging! It is a highly recommended film, for people who want a good thriller, or even just something new to watch!
