Queer dating reality show “Boys Love Boys” has shifted towards more inclusive and diverse global storytelling as Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) announced its acquisition of the reality show.
The pioneering queer dating format was developed by Taiwan’s Portico Media/GagaOOLala. With this acquisition, WBITVP is stepping into the realm of queer and gay genres for the first time.


In a television event on February 29, Edward Levan from WBITVP expressed the company’s goal of producing local versions in various languages.
They also plan to broadcast across major distribution channels, with the ambition of introducing the show on leading platforms throughout Europe.

This initiative represents a significant leap for LGBTQ+ content into the mainstream entertainment market.
Jay Lin, founder of Portico Media/GagaOOLala, shed light on the distinctive features and creative vision driving “Boys Like Boys.”
Lin highlighted the show’s dedication to authenticity, emphasizing its power to genuinely connect with audiences by portraying the intricacies of queer relationships in a genuine and relatable way.


Moreover, GagaOOLala is Asia’s leading LGBTQ+ and BL streaming service, based in Taiwan. Currently, the platform boasts a rapidly increasing library of around 1,300 titles available in 249 territories.
“Boys Love Boys” premiered on TLC Taiwan on March 5, marking a historic moment for Taiwanese television as the first large-scale queer dating reality show.


The acquisition of “Boys Like Boys” by WBITVP signifies a crucial milestone for LGBTQ+ media representation.


The show is currently available on Viu and WeTV in Thailand and the Philippines and is soon to be on Rakuten and VideoMarket in Japan, with plans for further international distribution.
