AO EXCLUSIVE: Hyun Bin finally landed with Smart Philippines

Filipino Smartees and Hyun Bin fans, this is it. The long wait is finally over!

Smart finally released their ‘Simple, Smart Ako’ campaign featuring South Korean superstar Hyun Bin on June 1.

“‘Simple. Smart Ako’ sums up our company’s approach all this time to make amazing technology available, and more importantly, simple for every Filipino,” says Alfredo S. Panlilio, Smart President and CEO and PLDT Chief Revenue Officer.

In the latest TV commercial of the Smart campaign, it shows the Crash Landing on You star Hyun Bin riding a sports car and drove fast past the city streets, in which commemorates the mobile network speed.

For the record, Hyun Bin is the first South Korean personality to be the face of the local telecom company.

According to Jane Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart, Hyun Bin is the perfect ambassador for Smart because of the ‘Hyun Bin Phenomenon’ that is pretty much due to digital technology, where Filipinos are able to stream and interact with him online.

In the exclusive digital presscon of Smart, the admins were asked how simple Hyun Bin is, and Basas answered that he is a very simple and nice guy.

“After the shoot, we requested for some of his jackets to be sent back home in the Philippines. We didn’t expect him to send it with his signature, actually we have some souvenirs items from Hyun Bin,” she shared.

Hyun Bin has a one year contract and owes 3 events with Smart. Moreover, many people keeps on asking if he will be landing in the Philippines soon.

Basas answered, “Planning the events that expect thousands of people to be part of it and given the guidelines of GCQ, we need to wait.”

“But he (Hyun Bin) is so excited to come. He actually told us that he wanted to be here during the launch of the television campaign, so we are really praying that flight restrictions will be lifted soon and things will go back to normal, so we can make more people happy,” she added.

Hyun Bin also had a message to all of us, “Filipinos are some of the warmest fans in the world, and I am thankful to Smart for giving me a way to reach out to everyone in the Philippines. Indeed, Smart has brought us closer than ever.”

This is just the beginning and there are more surprises and opportunities to come in the near future. But shall we expect more Korean endorser for Smart? Well, let us hope for that!
