Well known as the “Blue Chip” of Korean variety shows since his debut in 2005, Super Junior‘s Heechul finally claims his first major award as an entertainer.

On the 13th SBS Entertainment Awards held on December 28, 2019, Kim Heechul won his first ‘Excellence Award’ under the Reality shows category for his current SBS shows “My Ugly Duckling” and “Tasty Rendezvous”.

Known for his extremely great wit and humor on variety shows, Heechul have been an excellent Korean variety persona ever since his debut days. He actually gained the public’s attention even before Super Junior‘s debut by appearing on old variety shows such as SBS’s X-Man. He continously appeared on countless shows carrying Super Junior’s name with him to make it more well-known.

Unfortunately, due to his chronic leg pain due to his past accident injury, he was recently inactive in most of his group’s activities. However, he compensated this by appearing on more variety shows. With this, his reputation as a variety entertainer in Korea rose tremendously.

But this is not his first time winning an award in an Entertainment Awards ceremony. Back in 2011, he won the ‘Best Newcomer’ award during the 11th MBC Entertainment Awards for being the MC of ‘Radio Star’.

This award is meaningful as it solidifies Heechul‘s name as a great industry entertainer. He also posted on his Instagram (after being on hiatus for almost two months) to thank the people who supported him, Lee Sooman and his fans.
