‘Sekiro: No Defeat’ series is coming to Crunchyroll in January 2027

The series titled “Sekiro: No Defeat” will premiere on Crunchyroll starting in January 2027, following its theatrical roadshow release in Japan.

“Sekiro: No Defeat” is a tale of loyalty, blood, and sacrifice set in a fantastical reimagining of Sengoku-era Japan. The series will offer international viewers a deeper experience of Wolf and Kuro’s journey.

According to anime distributor Crunchyroll, “Sekiro: No Defeat” is a fully hand-drawn anime adaptation. It will be an eight-episode series with a weekly release schedule with additional content for its streaming release.

“Sekiro: No Defeat” is an anime adaptation of “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” a game developed by FromSoftware, the same developer behind “Elden Ring,” “Bloodborne,” and the “Dark Souls” series.

Originally scheduled for a three-week run, the film’s cinema roadshow in Japan was extended due to audience demand.

The anime had already gained international recognition before its theatrical release in Japan. “Sekiro: No Defeat” was screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival as part of its “Feature Films: Midnight Specials” program and made its North American premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival.

The Japanese voice actors are Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satou as Kuro/The Divine Heir, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina.

The series is directed by Kenichi Kutsuna and produced by KADOKAWA, Qzil.la, and ARCH.

The production team also includes the following: Takuya Satou as screenwriter, Takahiro Kishida as character designer, Shunsuke Fukui as deputy director, Kaito Moki as chief animation director, Takashi Mukoda as action animation director, Yuji Kaneko as art director, Azusa Sasaki as color designer, Keisuke Nozawa as cinematographer, Yoshinori Murakami as editor, Yasushi Nagura as sound director, and Shuta Hasunuma as composer.

“Sekiro: No Defeat” series will be available in Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus.
