Musical and masterpiece in one show: The ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in Concert’ experience

Demon Slayer fans definitely had a heartwarming and memorable experience during the ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in Concert’ that was held last October 11 and 12 at The Theatre at Solaire.

This musical event (produced by GEA Live and RoadCo Entertainment, in partnership with Aniplex of America) features the soundtracks from ‘Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc’ together with the astounding performance by Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.

Here are some of the highlights that surely made the Demon Slayer fans emotional as they witnessed this cinematic event:

Nostalgic soundtracks

Apart from its great animation, one of the reasons why Demon Slayer is a hit anime is because of its soundtrack. A lot of scenes from the anime has an impact on viewers, instilling an emotion that serves as a recollection of a moment from a specific episode.

Hearing ‘Kamado Tanjiro no Uta’ (by Go Shiina and Nami Nakagawa) performed by a live orchestra is a completely different level of experience for Demon Slayer fans. It brings back a lot of emotions – it was a tear-jerker soundtrack on episode 19, which once again proved that Kamado Tanjiro is the epitome of a selfless brother who displays bravery despite suffering just to protect his sister, Nezuko.

Another one is ‘Homura’ by LiSA, when this soundtrack was performed by the live orchestra, it was so sentimental as it led you to a lot of flashbacks from those scenes in ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train’, particularly in remembering the Flame Hashira, Rengoku.

Of course, the classic OP, ‘Gurenge’ by LiSA, will always be on the list. This song reminds us of the characters’ courage and perseverance despite suffering and sacrifices, just like what Tanjiro, the Hashira, and the whole Demon Slayer Corps demonstrated in the anime. It was such a great experience to hear this soundtrack being performed by a live orchestra.

Even if you already watched the anime or read the manga, it still feels like it’s taking you back to that very moment when you watched the first few episodes. The emotion is there, but this time, on an intense level, while hearing the soundtracks from a live orchestra and watching it together with fellow Demon Slayer fans.

It was a roller coaster of emotions since Demon Slayer also has this trio: Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, that has their distinct comical scenes. Even without audio from dialogues, it feels like you can still hear their voices and remember their lines in those specific scenes. Plus, the animation and storyline of this anime are truly adored by fans.

Heartfelt performance by a live orchestra

A big appreciation to the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra as they did justice in performing those Demon Slayer soundtracks. Overflowing passion and talent surface in the theater during their performance.

During the end of those performances, the audience gave them a genuine applause for their representation. They give life through harmonious and melodic performances, which made the audience feel the emotions of Demon Slayer scenes on the big screen.
