AO EXCLUSIVE: Get ready to be immersed in a gripping story of Disney+’s “Red Swan”
Brace yourselves to another Disney+’s intriguing and gripping drama!
Red Swan is a romantic revenge drama that depicts the story of a woman named Oh Wan Soo who is married to Kim Yong Kook, the heir to one of Korea’s top conglomerates. Wan Soo and Yong Kook may seem to have a perfect marriage to everyone, but it turns out that Yong Kook has long time been unfaithful to his wife. Wan Soo is aware of her husband’s infidelity and has worked hard to try and keep their marriage together.
The appearance of a mysterious bodyguard named Seo Do Yoon creates tension in the story since Wan Soo’s loyalty will be tested. Little does she know that Do Yoon has an ulterior motive for approaching her.

Ahead of the premiere of the series, an exclusive press conference was held on July 2 to delve into the series with the presence of the star-studded cast members namely, Rain, Kim Haneul, Jung Gyu Woon, Ki Eun Se, and Seo Yi Sook alongside Director Park Hong Kyun.
The Cast Members and their Roles
Rain as Seo Do Yoon

Rain transforms into a charismatic mysterious bodyguard named Seo Do Yoon who comes into the Hwain Group family with a personal agenda of wanting to avenge his friend who lost his life.
According to Rain, he chose to be part of this show because he admired Director Park when he was young and sometimes, he had the opportunity to be part of his project but turned out not to work out in the end. “As for Haneul, I feel like she’s the most beautiful person you’ll always dream of acting alongside her and I was lucky and blessed this time around to be with her”. He also expressed that he always wanted to be part of the same group as Haneul, Yi Sook, Gyu Woon, and Eun Se, and the strong presence of Seo Do Yoon captivates him. He said he tried to control his voice and his detailed acting and everything.
Moreover, with regards to action scenes, Rain said he wanted to do something that looked impactful so, he had a lot of conversations with the Director. “Rather than doing a lot of cuts, we wanted to do longer takes for the action sequences” He also revealed that he doesn’t have a lot of lines and it was difficult for him because he had to express those emotions without saying it out loud.
Furthermore, Director Park said, he felt at ease because he’s working with him, and said that he’s very skilled and has a lot of great ideas.
Kim Haneul as Oh Wan Soo

Kim Haneul puts to life the character named Oh Wan Soo, a former world-class Golfer who is a current Goodwill Ambassador, she is the wife of Kim Yong Kook a chaebol heir of Hwain Group.
When asked about the reason why she took the role, Haneul responded that she loved the film, Bodyguard back in the day and it was so hooking to see this kind of concept in quite a while and she thought that every single episode was very intriguing, very gripping and they had different stories embodied in each episode and she felt like she was gripped by the script.
According to Haneul, while filming the series, she focused on what the Goodwill Ambassadors do in public. She tried to learn from their gestures and how they stood in front of the public. She also focused on being presentable in how to dress on public occasions and at every event. Since she is a former golfer in the series, she also mentioned that she tried her best to pull off being a golfer in the series.
Jung Gyu Woon as Kim Yong Kook

Jung Gyu Woon plays the role of Kim Yong Kook, the chaebol heir of Hwain Group and the husband of Oh Wan Soo. Gyu Woon mentioned that he can’t believe that he is with a member of the cast. he shared that he took some time off for quite a while and then this attractive, enticing role came along. He really wants to take this role and convinced Director Park that could really watch his expectations and he could set this character apart from the ones that he played in the past. he expressed his gratitude towards Director Park for choosing him for this role.
Since Gyu Woon’s role is Haneul’s husband in the series, he mentioned that he relies on Haneul a lot because she is a skilled actress, he asks her a lot and relies on her advice a lot. “I got a lot of help from her” he pointed out.
When asked about his approach to his role, he said that he suggested a Spanish or Italian vibe for his role, he let his hair grow out a little to give that kind of look. He said he focused more on the sad romance of the series.
Ki Eun Se as Jang Tae Ra

The role of Jang Tae Ra will be played by actress Ki Eun Se. She mentioned that when he received an offer to play the role, she didn’t hesitate a moment, she jumped right on because she has faith in the Director and expressed that she was so happy working with this amazing cast. “It was an honor and a blessing” she added. Eun Sae described her character as a villainess but focused on not only appearing as a villain.
Seo Yi Sook as Park Mi Ran

Seo Yi Sook portrays the role of Park Mi Ran, the chairman of Hwain Group. Yi Sook also said that like Rain, he always wanted to work with them as well. “After seeing them in person, I can really feel why they admire such great actors, they live up to their reputation, and they were doing so well” She also mentioned that the cast members have great chemistry, and she expressed her confidence that this drama will also turn out to be a great show as well.
In approaching her character, Yi Sook thought about what is lacking in the life of Mi Ran. “We see different figures and hear their stories about how they sometimes treat people like dirt and I think all of that comes from some kind of deficiency that they must have felt when they were raised. So, I thought about that as I was thinking about my character, and I really leaned on that certain kind of deficiency.”
Rain and Haneul’s Chemistry


In terms of chemistry, Kim Haneul shared that she was very satisfied filming with Rain. She also mentioned a particular scene where she was being carried by Rain, she felt at ease because he is very strong and talked about how she relied on Rain a lot.
Rain said that he talked a lot with Haneul and shared a lot of conversations and he tried to refrain from channeling too much of himself into the character, “thankfully, Haneul was so attentive, and we have great chemistry, and we got along very well.” he stated.
On the other hand, Rain said that he is always confident in every project that he works on. “As for Red Swan, we really had a great chemistry among the cast and we had a great chemistry with the Director as well, so it was truly an unforgettable set” He also mentioned that they worked so hard and happily on the set. “It’s not about the channel it’s more about how much passion we all put into this series so I hope that can really translate unto the screen for the viewers to feel as well.”
Kim Haneul also pointed out that the power of their show lies in the middle, it has a lot of highs and lows, and they have a great impact right in the middle.

The press conference wrapped up with a short comment and description of the drama Yi Sook took the floor first and described the drama, “The Power of the Middle”, followed by Rain who said “Please tune in ladies and gentlemen”, “The Hwain Family is Strong” Haneul’s description.
Jung Gyu Woon hopes that this series will spark interest and love, “Thank you to the Hwain Family” he ended. Ki Eun Se’s description of the drama is “spicy, salty, and very sweet”
Director Park expressed his gratitude to everyone and said, “I ask for support and a lot of love in the show. Be sure to tune in every Wednesday” he concluded.
