Experience K-Culture with an exciting series of events at KCC this June and July

Korean culture enthusiasts, a series of pleasant surprises awaits you!

The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) presents many exciting K-culture events lined up for June to July. May it be traditional performances, webtoon exhibits, K-drama concerts, or K-pop festivals, KCC has various things to offer in the following days!

Korea Festival in Cebu

Following the recently concluded “K-Culture Next Door: 2024 Korean Festival” in Manila, there is also a Cebu leg for the said festival, which will be held on June 15-16.

 “K-Culture Next Door: 2024 Korean Festival” in Cebu will begin with an opening ceremony at 2 PM at the Sky Hall, with whole-day festivities at 10 AM-8 PM at the Mountain Wing Atrium.

Experience the fusion of traditional and contemporary Korean practices and performances—all for free!

Highlights include:

  • The Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Dance Company, who will show authentic performances from Jeju,
  • K-Tigers, Korea’s fusion taekwondo team, who will deliver an energizing contemporary performance, and the
  • University of Cebu Dance Company, who will represent a variety of traditional Filipino dances.

K-Comics World Tour

For graphic literature lovers, the “K-Comics World Tour” is perfect for you! It will give you a trip to the growing world of Korean webtoons, from June 21 to August 10 at the Groundspace Gallery, The M in BGC from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), learn about the role of webtoons in Korea’s entertainment industry, featuring popular K-drama adaptations like “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” and “Red Sleeve”. Entrance is free, and no registration is required.

On the opening date, June 21, a Webtoon workshop will also take place in the venue. If interested, you may register until June 14 through here.

K-Drama OST Concert

Show your love for K-dramas and their iconic OSTs through the “OST Symphony: K-drama in Concert featuring the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra”. Organized by KCC in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), this concert is the first of its kind and will be held on June 29, 2 PM, at the Metropolitan Theater, Manila. Reminisce your favorite moment in your beloved K-dramas and reserve seats for the concert here.

Heads up! The “Endless Landscape: Digitally Reimagined Korean Art,” which is a digital art exhibit at KCC that began on January 19, will be closing on June 29 with a final “Mini House Concert” on the 28th at 3:30 PM.

KPOP Academy

Starting in July, be ready to get your dancing shoes ready as we move to the beat of K-pop songs with KPOP Academy. The first academy of its kind in the Philippines, it will be giving interested applicants a chance to register until Thursday, June 13. Register here.

Featured mentors include:

  • Jihoon from AUSPICIOUS, an experienced choreographer and dancer who has worked with SM Entertainment and PLEDIS Entertainment, and performed with idols like SHINee’s Onew, Tomorrow X Together, and EXO
  • Ciel from ACE DANCE STUDIO, the Performance Director of Dreamcatcher, and skilled idols like Dalshabet and ‘Masked Singer’ Sohyang

To get everyone more excited, the P-pop girl group KAIA will make an appearance for the students on their recital day.

Everyone’s KPOP: Manila

Witness the energy of K-pop in “Everyone’s KPOP: Manila” on July 6 at the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall. This event is open to all fans, with the annual K-pop Cover Dance Festival as its highlight. The winner will be earning a trip to Korea for the finals. In addition, different fan club booths, stage games, and other fan activities can be experienced throughout the day.

Surprise performances from invited artists will also be revealed in the following days.
