Lay Zhang unveils new single, “Psychic”
Last February 23, Lay released “Run Back to You” with Lauv. This time, Lay is ready to take the world by storm once again with his latest single, “Psychic”! This is his second lead single from his highly anticipated English album to be released later this year.
Lay offers English, Chinese, and Korean versions of the track, signaling the expansive journey ahead. Crafted by the collaborative genius of Lay, Sean Douglas, JHart, Kyle Reynolds, and Grammy-nominated Rykeyz, “Psychic” showcases Lay’s artistic evolution.
The track features a fusion of high energy, garage, and bass rhythms, and R&B chordal movements. Rykeyz’s production brings a unique blend to the song, making both an innovative and resonant sound. “Psychic” delves into the realm of predestined connections with themes of understanding bordering on the psychic.
The music video was filmed in Dubai, and showcases its stunning and diverse landscapes. It also features Lay’s mesmerizing dance performance showing off his versatility, and his ability to bridge cultures through his craft. The music video is directed by Los Angeles-based director Andrew Donoho, who is known for his ‘dreamlike’ approach. With his ability to merge dance with cinematography, he is the perfect fit to bring Lay’s vision to life.
