8 interesting facts you should know about “Queen of Tears”

Queen of Tears is one of the most buzzworthy rom-com series that is currently airing right now.

It is a story about a married couple, Hong Hae In and Baek Hyun Woo, who go through a dizzying crisis but their love blooms again miraculously.

Here are 8 interesting facts you should know about this series.

1. Writer Park Ji Eun

From its pilot episode, this drama received so much love from the viewers not only because of its stellar cast but also a well-written storyline that captivated the hearts of many, thanks to the brilliant Writer Park Ji Eun, who created this beautiful series. 

She penned the hit series, My Love from the Star, The Producers, The Legend of the Blue Sea, and Crash Landing on You. There is no doubt why the viewers love Queen of Tears so much and can’t get enough of its amazing plot.

2. Kim Soo Hyun’s drama comeback after 3 years

Following Kim Soo Hyun’s drama, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, a rom-com series aired in 2020, he is finally here again for the same genre after 3 years. It was such a long time that’s why many fans have missed him so much and they highly anticipated his drama comeback.

He is now stealing the hearts of many with his role as Baek Hyun Woo, Hong Hae In’s husband and the legal director of Queen’s Group. We can’t get enough of his charm here, we really can’t deny the fact that he is really good in this kind of genre!

Moreover, this is also his third time collaborating with writer Park Ji Eun as he starred in the series, My Love from the Star and The Producers.

3. Stellar reunion

Thanks to this series, many stars get to reunite again!

Not only writer Park Ji Eun and actor Kim Soo Hyun worked again for the third time through this drama but also Na Young Hee and Kim Soo Hyun as well. From My Love from The Star and The Producers to here. They are inseparable!

There is also Kwak Dong Yeon and Kim Ji Won who both starred in Fight for My Way. Kim Soo Hyun and Kwak Dong Yeon who previously worked on the series, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, and Lim Chul Soo and Ko Kyu Pil who both starred in Crash Landing On You.

4. IU as Hong Hae In

In 2022, it was reported that IU was previously offered to take the role of the female lead role, Hong Hae In, in the series, but her agency announced that she declined it.

If she accepted the offer this drama is supposed to be her and Kim Soo Hyun’s drama reunion as they both worked together on their various projects such as Dream High, The Producers, Real, and Hotel Del Luna. They have such a strong bond of friendship. 

But still, it’s okay because Kim Ji Won is also a great actress and she nailed the role of Hong Hae In in this series.

5. More cameo appearances

During the virtual global press conference, Director Kim Hee Won revealed that there are a lot of surprise cameos in this series. Even though those actors are super busy, they made time for them so she’s very grateful.

We have already seen the first cameo and it was none other than actor Oh Jung Se who reunited with Kim Soo Hyun after their series, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. We were so happy to see the Moon Brothers again!

On the other hand, it was on February 23, when it was confirmed that Song Joong Ki is making a special appearance in this series, and this is another reunion again for Kim Ji Won and Kim Soo Hyun since they both starred in the drama, Descendants of the Sun and Arthdal Chronicles as well as the reunion for Kim Soo Hyun and Song Joong Ki since they both starred in 2010 series, Will It Snow for Christmas?

So we should look forward to it!

6. Germany as their filming location

Queen of Tears came out so beautiful because some of the scenes were shot in Germany and they filmed their drama there for a month. It was a perfect magical location for Hae In and Hyun Woo for their romantic scenes.

7. Kim Ji Won’s dedication to work

Kim Ji Won prepared and put a lot of effort and hard work into this drama, she shared on Salon Drip 2 that she lost weight in preparation for his role as Hong Hae In in this series since she had to wear a lot of outfits and a lot of external things she had to demonstrate and was very thoughtful for one year.  

She promises to herself that after the promotion of this drama, she will eat the food she wants to eat. Aw! Ji Won is so dedicated to her work and that’s what makes her a great actress!

8. Sebastian Roche

Sebastian Roche, a French American actor who is known for his roles in the American series, The Vampire Diaries, made a K-drama debut through this series, he plays the role of a German doctor named Dr. Braun. In an Instagram post, he said that it was such a fun project for him and that it was an honor working with Soo Hyun and Ji Won.
