“A Shop for Killers”: Not Your Ordinary Action Series!

It’s been a while since I have watched a Korean series about assassins.
I have to admit that at first I really thought that it was just the usual assassin story I was used to. But who would have thought that I would be in for a big surprise.
It was like being sucked into a black hole with no way out right from the first episode until the very end.
The story revolves around Jeong Jian (Kim Hyejun) the niece of a highly trained assassin, Jeong Jinman (Lee Dongwook). Who became the target of the team of assassins who used to work with her uncle.
After the death of her uncle, Jeong Jian went back to the house where she grew up and only to find herself fighting for survival as she slowly discovered the truth behind her uncle’s real identity and the life that he had been living before he had entered her world.
As the longest day of Jeong Jian’s life began, she finally realized that her uncle wasn’t who she thought he was and the reason behind all those things that her uncle had taught her while growing up.
The only question that’s left now to ask is, would the knowledge she has to help her survive the fight she never knew she would face?
If that’s not enough to convince you, let me add a few more reasons why you should watch a Shop for Killers.
Lee Dong Wook

Yes, having him in the cast alone is enough reason to watch the series. I have seen him play roles like a grim reaper or a gumiho but this by far is one of my favorites. It felt like this role was made especially for him. If you want to see a different side of Lee Dong Wook in the likes of John Wick or Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible then you should definitely see the Shop for Killers and I guarantee that it’s all worth it.
Kim Hyejun

I have never doubted her acting skills and I was amazed with all the stunts that she did. She was so good at acting that I can still feel my anger with her as she plays the role of the Queen in the hit series Kingdom. This also proves that she was the right person to play the role of Jeong Jian. She was so effective in her acting that I found myself rooting for her the whole time I was watching the series. And now I can’t stop remembering Jeong Jinman’s voice as he says, “Jian, listen up.”
The Villians

There’s a saying that a good villain is someone who will be hated by many. And that was exactly how I felt about the villains of this drama series, especially those who played the villain role. I have never hated anyone so much as much as I hated Bale. And let’s not forget the spineless Lee Seongjo.
The Allies

One of my favorite side character would be Pasin and the extraordinary Minhye. Let’s not forget our kind and loyal Honda and ofcourse, brother. You can’t help but root for them to win. Especially after all that they’ve been through. You will find yourself rooting for justice to prevail and defeat all evil.

Aside from all these characters the way the story was told was journey itself. The twists and the surprises are something to look forward to. I enjoyed the transitions of each story and how each episodes connects with each other to shows you the bigger picture.
All in all the series is an amazing thrilling ride from the first episode to the end.
So if you like an action pack series that will keep you at the edge of your seats then this one is for you. So what are you waiting for? You can watch all episodes at Disney+.
