“My Demon”: An out-of-this-world drama about love and life
If I told you that a demon was one of us, what do you think they’re like? Do you imagine them with red skin and horns? Or perhaps as beautiful as one of the angels? After all, before Lucifer fell, he was once revered by his Father.
In “My Demon”, the one we know as demon takes the form of a human being. Jeong Guwon (Song Kang) comes to the ‘rescue’ of desperate human beings by striking up a deal with them. He comes to the rescue of Do Dohee (Kim Yoojung) one night, and the next thing he knows, he has lost his power. Will he be able to get his power back? Or will he have to sacrifice something he isn’t ready to lose?
If that does not convince you to watch, let me give you a sneak peek into the world of “My Demon”!
Breathtaking shots
There are many times throughout the show where the shots feel like something out of a fairytale. This is a plus if you like aesthetic shots as there are many of them!
She fell first, he fell harder
Dohee and Guwon’s romance certainly made me feel kilig throughout all their moments! Their chemistry is truly something that helped a lot during the romance scenes!

Amusing and entertaining
The show is easy to digest, although there are more serious moments. However, you will find yourself laughing or smiling from kilig most of the time!
Memorable quotes
Sometimes in our lives, we experience things that we can’t get an exact hold of. Like we know what we are feeling, but to explain it is a different matter. And then we watch a show or read a book that perfectly describes what we feel. Suddenly, it’s easier to understand, and you don’t feel so alone anymore.
There are a few quotes in the show that really gets me, however, I will just share with you my favorite one:
“It felt as if I’d get swallowed up if I didn’t work hard.”
Interesting characters and family drama
I really adored Dohee and Cheonsook’s relationship. Despite not being related by blood, their trust in each other runs deep.

Dohee’s and Guwon’s sidekicks, Shin and Bokgyu respectively, are very funny too. They have a cat-and-dog relationship and their interactions always make me smile.

As someone who grew up watching Filipino telenovelas, the family also interests me a lot. While they seem ‘okay’ to the public, the dynamics change when inheritance is involved. The marites in me like this kind of drama!

“My Demon” aired from November 24, 2023, to January 20, 2024. It is available for streaming on Netflix. If you are looking for a romantic comedy with a few serious moments, be sure to check it out!
