Seoul Vibe 1988 Overview
The film is set in the year 1988 when South Korea hosted the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The story follows Dong Wook a race car driver known for his fast driving skills and his friends that makes up the Sanggye-dong Supreme Team. Despite his blossoming career as a racecar driver, Dong Wook gets entangled with Prosecutor Ahn due to his illegal activities abroad.
Prosecutor Ahn offers Dong Wook and his friends a chance to turn things over by helping him uncover the corruption of a VIP who tries to run away with the nation’s fund. In return, Dong Wook with his friends can travel to the United States freely to fulfill their American Dream. The crew goes undercover to unravel secrets where they encounter a general manager who’s suspicious of them.
A good ride back in the 1980s
Apart from the movie’s plotline, viewers can reminisce about the rising hip-tro trend back in the day. The bop tracks from John’s DJ-ing booth to the costumes of the casts were all screaming: It’s the 1980s! From cassette tapes, boom boxes, gold chains, and denim, these elements were all present to set the setting perfectly. And how can we forget those cars that were a status symbol of the past?
Surely, a new-tro trend will start to emerge after this film hits our Netflix screens. Of course, people who spent their teens in the 1980s can relate so much to this movie despite its Korean setting.
Feel the Seoul Vibe!
True to its name, the film will give its viewers an intense ride they’ll never forget! From Dong Wook’s amazing drifting skills to the Sanggye-dong’s Supreme Team’s nerve-wracking undercover moves. An interesting secret about General Manager Lee is about to reveal too.
