An official from the drama industry shared on April 5 that Lee Do Hyun received a casting offer for the upcoming drama, Melancholia joining Im Soo Jung who is also reported to play the female lead.
According to the reports, the two actors are positively reviewing the said offer and nothing has been decided yet as of this writing.
Melancholia talks about a massive scandal in a prestigious private high school in Gangnam that involves a sexual relationship between students and teachers; following as well the corruption of the school.
If the two accept the offer, Im Soo Jung will play the role of a high school math teacher where she meets the character of Lee Do Hyun.
Shen will meet Lee Do Hyun again who became an adult and their situation will start to tangle with each other.
Lee Do Hyun plays the character of Baek Seung Yoo who is sloppy and seems no emotions in his eyes, and he speaks so timidly that people think he has a speech impairment.
He is a voluntary outsider who likes baseball caps and prefers taking pictures with his DSLR camera rather than his phone.
Moreover, Baek Seung Yoo’s character is a math genius who appeared on a quiz program at the age of 5 and surprised viewers by solving math equations that KAIST and Pohang University cadets couldn’t solve.
He also entered MIT at the age of 10 but dropped out at the age of 12 for a reason.
Im Soo Jung on the other hand takes the role of Ji Yoon Soo, a kind high school math teacher with a good impression and has a strong will once she was decided on something.
She is fond of mathematics and always thrilled in front of the world’s 7 major math problems; other than that, she encourages her students to try their own formula and proofs in solving equations.
