READ: Lim Hyunsik’s 1st Mini Album ‘Rendez-Vous’ | Album Review
Last October 14, BTOB member and main vocalist Lim Hyunsik released his 1st mini album entitled Rendez-Vouz.

To give you a little trivia about the name of his mini album, Rendez-Vous is a french word meaning a meeting, often a secret one, that you have arranged with someone for a particular time and place. The term is also used when two spacecraft arranged a certain meeting. (Credits: Collins Dictionary)
The album is composed of 5 tracks and 1 instrumental for the title track, it was all written by Lim Hyunsik himself.
THE TRACKS
The 1st track is Rendez-Vous. For me, you can feel the emotions from the very first note of the song. Based on the english translations, it’s about giving your everything to meet your special someone and be with him/her throughout his/her journey. ๐
The 2nd track is Docking. It is basically expressing your sincere thanks to a certain special someone and making sure that you’ll be with be him/her no matter what. And you’ll always end up with that certain someone. While listening to this song, I felt that this is his message to all of us, Melodies. This song is good. The 1st one is good too. They’re both good! ๐
The 3rd track is Black. The intro is definitely rock! Literally, rock! The drums, the guitar will totally give you a different vibe from the first two songs. We all know that BTOB’s songs are more focused on Ballads, right? Hyunsik proved to us that he can do more with his songwriting skills. This is totally a different vibe. Listen to it so you know what i’m talking about. ๐
The 4th track is Moonlight. It will give you the ‘LSS’ feels, bes. And the english lyrics was soooo on point. The music is very different compared to the first three tracks that we’ve mentioned. The intro will give you a very chilling vibes that will make you want to listen more. ๐
The 5th track is his title track, Dear Love. When his album was released, this is the first track that i listened to and totally fell in love with it. It is indeed dedicated to someone you admire the most. (Who’s that, Mr. Lim? haha! Ofcourse, it’s us, Melodies! You can take a deep breath now, Ladies.) The song is very ‘Hyunsik’, i must say. We all know that he’s like the God of Ballad who always made us emotional with his self-written love songs. The song is not that much of a hugot song but it makes me very emotional everytime i listen to it. (I need a hug, melos. ๐โ) If i will recommend a song from this album, it’s this song because of the emotions that this song will give you. I’m pretty sure the listener will definitely love it especially if he/she is into ballads. ๐

THE ALBUM: OVERALL VIEW
In my opinion, the concept is very unique but it fits the album title though. It’s like Hyunsik is trying to tell us that he is ready for a different kind of adventure when it comes to making his own music. It’s like he’s taking it to the next level, an ‘out of this world’ concept that we didn’t expect or even imagined it before.
What i like the most in this album is the content. The songs are not within the same genre at all. I know that most of the K- music enthusiasts expected that the songs are all in Ballad since it is BTOB’s Lim Hyunsik but he just gave us the major plot twist that we all deserved. When i heard the 3rd track Black, i know that this album is totally different from what we’ve expected.
Lim Hyunsik’s Rendez-Vous album is definitely worth your time, money, emotions, EVERYTHING. ๐
