Korean Cultural Center, Trunk Theatre Project present puppet theater ‘Cookies, Ann, Cream’ to the Philippines
The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines and Trunk Theatre Project staged “Cookies, Ann, Cream” last October 13 and 14. The performance introduced a distinctive style of Korean performing arts through puppet and object theater.

The story follows Ann as she travels through Antarctica’s white nights in search of meteorites. On her journey, she meets nonhuman beings and unexpected companions who open her eyes to new ways of seeing life. What begins as an expedition becomes a journey filled with meaningful discoveries.
The production offered a hands-on workshop on the final day of the Manila performances. Cho Ye-eun, director and writer of “Cookies, Ann, Cream,” led the workshop, where participants engaged with the performers and made their own puppets.
Participants learned to animate their puppets through movement and joined a fun meteorite hunt in the snow, recreating Ann’s Antarctic adventure.

The cast members of “Cookies, Ann, Cream” are the following: Cho Ye-eun as director and writer, Jeong Sanhee as producer, Park Jinho as music director, Kim Sohyun as lights director, Heo Yireh and Lee Dawn as actresses, and Park Hyeon as actor.
KCC staged “Cookies, Ann, Cream” as part of its ongoing efforts to introduce Korean culture to Filipino audiences through diverse artistic expression.
“After several exhibitions, KCC brought a puppet and object theater performance by Trunk Theatre Project to the Philippines to give Filipinos the opportunity to experience a different form of Korean performing arts,” said KCC Director Kim Myeongjin.
Korean performing arts company Trunk Theatre Project presented “Cookies, Ann, Cream,” which won the 2024 3rd Seoul Arts Awards – Porsche Frontier Award for Theatre.
The performances received support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, K-Touring Arts, the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and the Korean Polar Research Institute.
