Experience Culture and Language in KCC Philippines “Hangeul Week 2026”
Get ready for a week-long celebration of Korean culture!
The Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines brings Hangeul Week 2026, an event filled with an introduction to hangeul, also known as the Korean alphabet, through exhibitions, installations, and hands-on activities!

Short History of the Hangeul Writing System
Before it was declared as Korea’s official writing system, it was first created by King Sejeong the Great and his scholars in 1443. It was first called as Hunminjeongeum; then it was officially declared the writing system of Korea in 1446. In 1997, the Hunminjeongeum Manuscript was inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
Engage in traditional music in Hangeul Week 2026
With a fusion of cultural activities and programs, Hangeul Week 2026 is also set to feature a concert titled Imagination on Resonance, which was held last October 2, 2026. The concert showcased a traditional Korean performance by Groove &.

Groove & members Sang-kyung Lee, Min-ju Sohn, and Ha-gyeon Kim delivered a refreshing sound to the Filipino audience with traditional percussion instruments, offering a glimpse into another facet of Korea’s rich cultural heritage.
