Korean Cultural Center Strengthens Philippine Ties Through Storytelling and Culinary

From shared stories between Filipino and Korean families to hands-on lessons in traditional Korean cuisine, cultural exchange took center stage as the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) launched new partnerships aimed at bringing Korean culture closer to local communities and students.

In collaboration with Museo Pambata and the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) continues to strengthen cultural ties by partnering with Philippine institutions, successfully holding two programs in May and June 2026. Through these collaborations, KCC provided educational, family-oriented, and experiential opportunities that introduced Filipino participants to various aspects of Korean culture. The initiatives reflect KCC’s continued commitment to expanding cultural exchange and fostering stronger ties between the Philippines and Korea.

Where Stories and Cultures Meet: KCC’s Family Month Celebration with Museo Pambata 

Last May 29, 2026, KCC and Museo Pambat held Sama-Sama: A Philippines-Korea Family Month Celebration, an event that brought families for a day of interactive cultural activities centered on Philippines–Korea storytelling sessions, together with some traditional games from both countries and creative activities.

This event highlighted the importance of accessible cultural education and community engagement in strengthening Philippines–Korea relations.

Exploring Korean Flavors: KCC Leads Hands-On Culinary Workshop with Benilde Students 

KCC, in partnership with the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, successfully held Flavors of Wellness, a Korean culinary lecture and workshop for Culinary Arts Management students at the Angelo King International Center Campus last June 2, 2026. 

The session focused on the culinary traditions of jang (장), including doenjang (된장), ganjang (간장), and gochujang (고추장), highlighting their history, cultural significance, and versatility in Korean cuisine. Led by Chef Lily Min, participants gained hands-on experience preparing traditional dishes such as doenjangguk (된장국), jeyukbokkeum (제육볶음), and bulgogi (불고기).

Through these festive and cultural events, KCC continues to build meaningful partnerships with Philippine institutions, expanding the presence of Korean culture through family-centered engagement and academic collaboration.
