Wendy successfully wraps up her first-ever “W:EALIVE” solo concert in Manila

Save the best for last! PH Wannikos and ReVeluvs had a Wendy-ful night at W:EALIVE in Manila!

On January 17, Wendy reunited with her Filipino fans at her first-ever “W:EALIVE” solo concert at New Frontier Theater as her last stop for her first world tour. She once delighted everyone with her soul-stirring vocals and her captivating charm.

The show kicked off with Wendy singing her song Fireproof. She started singing it in acapella which highlights her powerful vocals. We really got goosebumps. Her vocal prowess never disappoints. It was followed by the songs Hate² and Queen of the Party. She greeted the crowd, “Kumusta Manila. This is Wendy from Red Velvet. Welcome to W:EALIVE!” She said she wanted to capture the feeling of being alive by singing these three songs.

Wendy further explained the heartfelt meaning behind the title, “W:EALIVE” on this show. According to her, it is a combination of ‘Wendy’ and ‘we alive’, which means wanting to exist and breathe through music with the fans, because, as she said, that’s how she feels when she’s on stage. “That’s what I wanted to give you, to feel alive throughout the concert,” Wendy added.

She’s amazed at how her Filipino fans welcomed her. She said that after performing the first three songs on her setlist, she already felt alive because of the passionate energy she received. She said she can’t hear herself while performing because of the loud cheers of the fans.

She shared that when she arrived in Manila, the fans had prepared Jollibee for her, and she ordered adobo, which she likes, as well as other Filipino dishes that she shared with the staff. She said that when she comes back next time, she would love to have Llao Llao and Halo-halo.

She performed Why Can’t You Love Me, Best Ever, Chapter You, His Car Isn’t Yours, Better Judgement, and Vermilion. Everyone’s heart melted when she started to sing her ballad songs Like Water, When This Rain Stops, and Believe. Wendy perfectly delivered her message through this music. While she was singing these songs, we got teary-eyed and felt comforted through the song.

She performed Airport Goodbyes, Wish You Hell, Sunkiss, Bestfriend, The Road, and Existential Crisis.

Towards the end of the show, Wendy read a letter that she had written after she did a soundcheck before the show started. She said, “They say that as a singer, my purpose is to touch hearts and bring joy through music. But the truth is, you have been the ones filled my heart. You have been given me more love, more strength, more light than I ever imagined possible. On this stage, surrounded by your voices, I have felt whole, I have felt truly deeply alive.” She expressed her gratitude towards the fans and said that she will carry the love she received from the fans as her guide moving forward.

“I will return to you more often closer, and better because this isn’t goodbye, this is just the beginning of our next chapter together until that day comes, please take care of yourselves, stay healthy, stay happy, and know that you are loved beyond measure. I love you and thank you for everything,” she added. She also prepared a message to her team and thanked them for all their hard work throughout the tour. Wendy is the sweetest!
