A Sign of Affection” follows Yuki Itose, a 19-year-old university student with congenital hearing loss. One day, she crosses paths with Nagi Itsuomi, a 22-year-old multilingual university student, which she later develops a crush on. The story revolves around Yuki, as she narrates her silent world.

Here are three reasons for you to consider watching it!

Adorable and dreamy artstyle

The show’s art style is absolutely gorgeous. The soft colors complement one another, the blurry background, and seamless shading gives it a dreamy atmosphere.

The effort to make the characters’ lips be pronounced also helps bring attention to the mouth’s movements, as one of the ways Yuki communicates is through lip reading. The hand movements were also made to be accurate to actual sign language!

Addicting opening song

The opening song, “Yuki no Ne” performed by Novelbright, is a lovely song. It’s the type of song that you wouldn’t want to skip!

Experience and celebrate love

There are a lot of cute moments with Yuki and Itsuomi. Itsuomi’s honesty and reassurance for Yuki was really refreshing. No space for miscommunication, Itsuomi makes Yuki feel that it’s only her, no one else!

Rin, Yuki’s best friend, is also someone to look forward to! Her love for Yuki was also very endearing, and her crush towards Kyoya is another highlight of the show.

The show was not heavy by any means. I find myself smiling after every episode. If you want some lighthearted romance, then you should definitely watch it!

The show features performances by Sumire Morohoshi as Yuki Itose, Yu Miyazaki as Itsuomi Nagi, Takeo Otsuka as Oushi Ashioki, Ryota Osaka as Kyoya Nagi, Kaede Hondo as Rin Fujishiro, Nao Toyama as Ema Nakazono, and Tasuku Hatanaka as Shin Iryu.
