Enjoy Heritage and Harmony: Phil-Kor Festivities at KCC this August!
As August arrives, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) proudly announces a month filled with sports and family-oriented activities! This celebrates the 75 years of friendship between Korea and the Philippines.
Kicks & Sticks: Phil-Kor National Sports Demonstration
On August 9, KCC will hold an exciting display of national sports from both countries at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Arts Center. The Globe Auditorium will host the “Kicks & Sticks: Phil-Kor National Sports Demonstration”, where top Korean and Filipino athletes showcase their prowess.
Representing Korea is Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, which will embody the art of Taekwondo. Representing the Philippines, the Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) will demonstrate the Filipino national sport, Arnis.
Before this, NARA, the KCC’s traditional performing team, and the Philippine Baranggay Folk Dance Troupe will treat the audience to a unique Phil-Kor performance.

The Forest Music Band, Dung Dda Koong
On August 18, KCC will present “The Forest Music Band, Dung Dda Koong,” a delightful children’s play at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez. This event is in partnership with the Namwon National Gugak Center.
Ideal for ages 3 and up, this interactive performance immerses children in the enchanting sounds of four traditional Korean musical instruments: haegeum, gayageum, geomungo, and ajaeng. The story revolves around six animal friends preparing for “Tiger’s” birthday party.
Bring your children and experience the magic of traditional music with the “Forest Music Band”! Once again, seats are free but limited. Guidelines for ticket reservations will be announced soon.
