G-Dragon Appointed As Visiting Professor at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji yong, has been announced as a visiting professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
According to a news report from TV Chosun on June 5, it was revealed that the singer-rapper will have a 2-year term from June 2024 until June 2026. The announcement was made during KAIST’s “Innovate Korea 2024,” where Galaxy Corporation CEO Choi Young Ho, KAIST President Lee Kwang Hyung, and G-Dragon were present. At this event, they discussed the future developments of technology in the K-content and cultural industries.
Students are expected to meet ‘Professor Kwon’, who will give undergraduate and graduate students leadership lectures.
KAIST shared that G-Dragon will collaborate on digital twin technology research for Hallyu artists, research on the convergence of Korean culture and technologies such as artificial intelligence, and the metaverse.
He is also installed as KAIST’s ambassador and will help with the institute’s promotions. G-Dragon expressed, “It is an honor to become a visiting professor at KAIST, where numerous geniuses from the science field came from. I look forward to meeting new science and technology experts. I hope to meet in synergy with my entertainment expertise.”
Meanwhile, G-Dragon is preparing for his upcoming solo comeback since his previous 2017 self-titled solo album, Kwon Jiyong.
