Food + Romance + Culture + Drama = Recipe for an exquisite series!

Secret Ingredient is Viu’s first regional series which features actors from three cultures: Korea, Indonesia, and Philippines. Together with Unilever Nutrition SEA, the streaming platform will show that love comes in all flavors.

This series stars Sangheon Lee from South Korea, Nicholas Saputra from Indonesia, and Julia Barretto from the Philippines.

What is the story Secret Ingredient?

The story is about Ha Joon (played by Sangheon Lee) who is a top executive in South Korea. He comes from a rich family and is said to be Asia’s Top 10 most eligible bachelors in the series. Despite having it all, he leaves all of these behind to find answers and hopefully, rekindle the past. As he searches for answers, he meets Maya (played by Julia Barretto) and Chef Arif (played by Nicholas Saputra). In his journey, he will see a fresh perspective on life, teach him forgiveness, understanding, and acceptance.

Aside from the romance story, this series will also focus heavily on culinary arts. Additionally, this production will feature household favorites such as Knorr, Lady’s Choice, Royco, Sariwangi, and Buavita.

Secret Ingredient mall show

Last April 28, 2024, Secret Ingredient had a mall show at the Market Market! Activity Center.

Booths were stalled for that culinary vibe and for participants to enjoy games.

The mall show was hosted by Ms. Dimples Romana and special performances by K-Pop dance cover group, Paradigm and P-Pop boy group, ALAMAT.

Of course, to complete the mall show, Julia Barretto dropped by to promote her upcoming show and played Pinoy Henyo with her fans.

Secret Ingredient leading men, Sangheon Lee and Nicholas Saputra weren’t able to attend the mall show. However, Sangheon left a special message to thank the series’ supporters and invited everyone to stream Secret Ingredient on the day of its release.

Special pre-screening event

Annyeong Oppa had the opportunity to attend a special pre-screening of the first two episodes of Secret Ingredient. Without giving much away, we think that it’s a show to watch out for! Because of the actors’ acting and the mouth-watering food shots, we immediately fell in love with the series’ storyline. For Viu’s first regional drama, this series looked promising and they did a good job in promoting three cultures, a look into the culinary kitchen, the appetizing dishes, and a promising love story between two different people from different backgrounds.

Macce Samarista (Unilever Nutrition SEA and Indonesia Lead for Digital Marketing, Meda, and Commerce) wanted to emphasize the show’s unique exploration of food and love. She says,
