“Knight Flower” is a 2024 MBC drama starring Lee Ha Nee and Lee Jong Won. It is a 12-episode series based on a webtoon of the same name.

With an interesting premise and a talented line-up of actors, this period drama is one you shouldn’t miss.

Breaking stereotypes for women

Jo Yeo Hwa is a widow who lost her husband before she even got to see him. However, their marriage was considered done because of the system back then.

As a widow, she was confined to her in-laws’ house and wasn’t allowed to do many things. Yeo Hwa thinks it’s unfair and finds her own ways to do what she thinks is right. Still, she takes care of her in-laws and does her role as their daughter.

She’s also expected to live as prim and proper like the other ladies. But with her strong personality, others view her unladylike characteristics as strange when she’s just being herself.

Masked hero

Living as a widow quietly during the day, Jo Yeo Hwa starts her double life at night in order to help people in need. Because her in-laws’ family has a high status, she has to protect her identity when she goes out in secret.

With a mask on, she gives aid to the less fortunate people and seeks to serve justice for those who get oppressed by the powerful.

Enemies to partners

Park Soo Ho is a senior officer at the investigative bureau. He is strict and believes that crimes should be dealt with legally. When he first learns about the masked hero, he tries to arrest her for doing things outside the law.

But after a series of events, he realizes that her actions are justified and gradually agrees to work with her in catching the true criminals. Later on, they also team up to help the King.

Yeo Hwa and Soo Ho have good chemistry as partners and it’s exciting to see their relationship develop.

Second couple

Yeo Hwa’s servant, Yeon Sun, and Soo Ho’s brother, Yoon Hak, cross paths with each other many times because of certain circumstances. As they get to know each other, they develop a budding romance that makes their scenes adorable to watch.

Both of their characters are well-written and they also show their sense of justice while working together with the main leads.

Good comedy

Throughout the drama, there is humor inserted in the scenes and between characters. That’s why it’s fun to watch and suitable for any age group.

Although there are serious themes tackled in the drama, the way it’s presented with bits of comedy keeps a bright atmosphere so the drama doesn’t get too dark. The overall message is more easily digestible too, because it’s not shown very complicatedly.

If you’re fond of shows that can give you a good laugh every once in a while, then this drama is for you.

Family-like relationships

Jo Yeo Hwa and Park Soo Ho have both lost their families due to connected incidents. But they found a new family with people who love and support them despite not being related by blood.

Yeo Hwa has a trustworthy friendship with Yeon Sun and Merchant Jang. Although she saved their lives without expecting anything in return, they decided to put their loyalty to her and help her in everything.

Soo Ho was adopted by a noble family, and he developed a sincere brotherhood with Park Yoon Hak.

It’s heartwarming to see Yeo Hwa and Soo Ho have reliable people to turn to even when their families aren’t present anymore. They aren’t lonely because they have each other’s backs.
