As the new season starts, Lee Joon gives us a glimpse into his character and shares his experiences in creating the new season. Check out some of our questions and his reply to them.

AO: Are there some characteristics of Min Do Hyuk that you can relate with?

LJ: I don’t think there are any similarities with Do Hyuk, and rather, I feel everything is different because I don’t live as dramatically as Do Hyuk does.

AO: If you were given the chance to choose another role in the series, which one would you like and why?

LJ: I would choose a new character called ‘Hwang Chan Sung,’ portrayed by actor Lee Jung Shin. He’s a new character introduced in ‘Resurrection of the Seven,’ and the more you watch, the more you’ll see the depth of the character.

Aside from our questions, Lee Joon also replied to some general questions that were given to him.

Q: What was the most memorable moment to you while preparing for filming ‘Resurrection of the Seven’?

LJ: As I’ve been working closely with the actors, we’ve developed a great rapport, to the point where we can understand each other with just a glance. It’s been a delightful experience.

Q: What did you feel when you read the script of screenwriter Kim Sun-ok?

LJ: I remember when I first received the script, I was so engrossed that time seemed to fly by, and I thoroughly enjoyed it until the end.

Q: How do you think your character, Min Do Hyuk, has evolved since ‘The Escape of the Seven’?

LJ: While my character may have seemed somewhat light-hearted in ‘Escape of the Seven,’ in ‘Resurrection of the Seven,’ where he vows revenge, he becomes much more solemn and I believe he has grown as an adult.

Q: Could you share in detail about the changes you made to Min Do Hyuk’s voice and expression in season 2?

LJ: Since the character underwent a complete 180-degree transformation, I made an effort to exude a more reserved and mature voice and atmosphere.

Q: What’s the best feedback you get from taking on the role of Min Do Hyuk?

LJ: Senior actor Yoon Tae Young, who has the most scene together, often told me, “You’re the best actor, your action scenes are also the best,” and receiving such feedback from a senior actor I’m filming with was the best feedback I could get.

Q: How was working with Um Ki Joon? Which scene with him left the deepest impression on you?

LJ: Because he have a lot of experience, I always felt welcomed, and shooting scenes with Ki Joon sunbae-nim felt like I just had to trust and follow him.

Q: Were there any funny or memorable things that happened while filming season 2?

LJ: Actors Jo Jae Yoon and Yoon Tae Young always made the set enjoyable. I remember laughing continuously because it was so funny when my sense of humor matched theirs.

Q: Do you prefer starring in serious dramas or more lighthearted ones? Why?

LJ: Since everything is about experience and challenges, I don’t particularly have a preferred genre. I tend to focus more on striving to do well if opportunities come my way.

Q: How is being an actor different compared to being an idol? Do you miss being an idol, and if yes, what do you miss?

LJ: If being an actor is like running a marathon, being an idol is like running a short-distance race. While idols burn everything on stage for about three minutes, actors show themselves through acting for about an hour. I haven’t had a moment where I wanted to go back to being an idol yet.

Q: I’m sure there are a lot of young artists also look up to you. What advice you want to relay to them in order to sustain longer in the entertainment industry?

LJ: If you challenge yourself every day, regardless of the outcome, it will definitely be a valuable challenge. I hope everyone stays strong and challenges themselves every day.

Q: What message would you like to convey to fans of the drama as they anticipate the premiere of ‘Resurrection of the Seven’?

LJ: Thank you for watching and loving the drama ‘Resurrection of the Seven’ even outside of Korea. I will always strive to repay your love with my best efforts.
