Highlight reclaims the name “BEAST” after 8 years + celebrates their 15th debut anniversary
After 8 years, Highlight finally regained their name, BEAST.
Highlight recently concluded a smooth mutual agreement with Cube Entertainment, their former agency, regarding the use of “BEAST” trademark as per Around Us agency. Cube Entertainment is reported to have actively supported Highlight’s future activities by engaging in a broad discussion about trademark rights.
However, despite reclaiming the name “BEAST,” the members decided to continue their activities under their current group name, Highlight. Around Us shared, “It’s a new feeling to be able to show the team name “BEAST” separately from the activity name,” and added, “We hope this news will be a meaningful gift for Highlight and fans celebrating their 15th anniversary.”
Highlight, debuted as a six-member group BEAST in 2009. However, in 2016, a trademark dispute arose during the negotiation of their exclusive contract renewal with Cube Entertainment. In 2017, they changed their name to Highlight, which is the current team name, and started anew as a five-member group and later on became a four-member group.

As they celebrate their 15th debut anniversary this year, Highlight has been active under the name longer than their initial “BEAST” name. Yet, reclaiming the trademark after 8 years marks a significant turning point in their career.
To commemorate this milestone, the group released a surprise video on their official SNS and Youtube account. The video featured both team names, highlighting BEAST’s debut date as “2009.10.16.” and Highlight’s as “2017.03.20.”
As Highlight (BEAST) and Light (B2UTY) celebrate their 15th anniversary, this paves the way for new beginnings and exciting opportunities for the group and their fanbase.
