Looking for something old and yet new to watch? Do you love shows with powers and fighting against evil? Then AVATAR: The Last Airbender is the series for you.

The story revolves around four nations composed of Air, Water, Fire, and Earth that had been living harmoniously together until the Fire Nation began attacking and wiped out the Air Nation where the next Avatar was supposed to be born.

A young and jolly Airbender, Aang (Gordon Cormier), didn’t take the news of the possibility of him being the next Avatar in a good way, wanted to clear his head but ended up in the middle of the storm and falling into the sea.

Meanwhile, in his absence, not only was his village attacked and wiped out, but also the other nations. As the Fire Nation continues to terrorize other nations. Hope emerged when the AVATAR, Aang, finally awakened.

But finding out how long he was gone and what had happened to his Nation filled him with so much anger and devastation. To make things harder, the prince of the Fire Nation Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) was so driven to capture the AVATAR and went to extreme lengths just to capture him.

But with the help of his newly found friends Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio Tarbell), Aang is able to escape Prince Zuko’s ship and embarks on a journey to find a way to stop the Fire Nation from its evil plan.

The only question now left to ask is, who will succeed in the end?

MY THOUGHTS:

I can still remember when I first saw the AVATAR movie in 2010. I have to admit that a lot has changed since then, especially with the technology and digital effects. After seeing the first few episodes of AVATAR: The Last Airbender series by Netflix I can’t help but be amazed at how they had applied these changes.

One of the changes I have loved would be Appa, which kinda of reminds me of the movie, The NeverEnding Story. Of course, I also appreciated all the landscapes that they showed, from all four nations. With these advancements, AVATAR: The Last Airbender was able to create such a beautiful magical world that viewers wanted to be part of.

To make an already amazing story more captivating the actors that they have chosen really embodied their characters which brings them closer to their viewers. It was like being one with Aang and feeling all the mixed emotions that he was feeling including the pressure of finding out that only you have the power to save the world. It also includes all the uncertainties that he felt as you join him on his journey as he continued to uncover his powers to help save the world.

Aside from the thrill of being able to save the world, the series will also teach you about friendship and fighting for what is right. Not only that, it also teaches you how to not lose hope even when things don’t go your way because there is always hope.

It also teaches you that you can achieve anything as long as you believe in yourself. It’s an added bonus to have friends who will support you at your weakest and cheer for you when you are on the top. A type of connection that’s so priceless that it’s hard to find but never impossible. Just like how Aang met Sokka and Katara, and how their friendship had contributed to their own personal growth.
