The new girl group ‘Kep1er’ is creating waves around the world in the current episodes of Queendom 2! As a result, they become Kpop’s newest monster rookies, hell-bent on becoming ‘the best female group’ of the next generation!
Let’s know more about rank 1 of all 90 contestants from the Mnet reality TV series Girls Planet 999, where she competed against other contestants for a position in the group, Kim Chaehyun!
Pre-debut
Kim Chaehyun joined SM Entertainment as a trainee while she was in her second year of middle school and stayed with the label for six years before leaving somewhere between 2019 and 2020.
Girls Planet 999
Through the prologue teaser released on July 7, Chaehyun and the other participating trainees were revealed as upcoming contestants on Mnet’s newest reality show, Girls Planet 999.
The show premiered on August 6 and ran through October 22. She was revealed to have placed first overall during the show’s finale, making her a member of Kep1er and the group’s center.
Debut with Kep1er
Chaehyun officially debuted with Kep1er on January 3, 2022, with the release of their first mini-album ‘First Impact’ with the title track of ‘WA DA DA.’
Debut as MC
Following the resignation of former MCs Jihan and Yohan, Chaehyun along with CRAVITY’s Minhee and ATEEZ’s Yeosang, were appointed as the new MC for SBS MTV’s The Show on January 10, 2022.
Queendom 2
The next notable project from Mnet, which is known for its unique survival shows, has been revealed as ‘Queendom 2.’ Mnet also announced the artists who will headline the second season of its popular survival show, ‘Queendom,’ on February 21.
And now, the rookie group Kep1er, along with VIVIZ, LOONA, WJSN, Brave Girls, and Hyolyn are performing on ‘Queendom 2’ as participants.
